Nan Hua Primary

Hi, I am a parent of 2 kids in NHPS and stay in Woodlands. Kids attend Nanscans in the afternoon. However, as there is no school transport to Woodlands area, wonder if there is any chance of carpool with parent who stay at Woodlands and fetches kids from Nanscans in the evening. Hubby fetches kids to school in the AM but we have problem fetching them home in the evening from Nanscans. Pls PM me. Thanks

my son might transfer to Nanhua next year (P4).

he is currently attending the robotics CCA in his school and he loves it.
I am wondering whether he can join the robotics CCA in Nanhua if he transferred next year.

Hi dragonfly1976, So your ds may transfer in after passing Round 2? Congratulations. Yes, the school allows CCAs from P1; there is a Robotics Club which I'm sure will welcome your ds. The school usually schedules a CCA Open House in Jan. After which, children can choose their CCAs via the online portal MCOnline. Generally, you are allocated whatever you choose. This information can be found on the NH home page.

Yes, a lot of lower primary children use them. P1 classrooms tend to be on the ground floor so trolley bags do work.

Hi! May I know at which levels the students will have a change of class? I know there'll be the first change from P2 to P3. How about subsequent years? Is the allocation of classes purely based on results? Results of all subjects or specific subjects?

Hi Serendipity, I am assuming your dc is in P2 Y2015.

In P3, those shortlisted for GEP Round 1 will be taken out & considered for TAG classes. Of course, those who clear GEP Round 2 & choose to stay in Nan Hua will form TAG2&3. Generally TAG classes have the same members from P4-6. Rotation only occurs within their form classes (GHJ). So if you are in 4HT2, you may be moved to 5JT3 the following year.

The other non-TAG classes appear to be grouped according to academic strengths, with D to F being stronger, & these are subjected to yearly review. Whether all subjects are considered or not you may wish to pose to the school on 18 Nov, perhaps during the Principal's Address. But as you may have noticed, there is a trend towards mixed ability classes. If your dc is exceptionally strong in Maths & Science (maybe 10% above cohort mean), I recommend you to do extra home coaching. It is difficult to rely on the school to stretch High Ability children in a mixed ability class.

As you are aware, Mrs Neo is leaving; the new Principal Mrs Ong (Mdm Chia Hui Khim 谢慧秦) may have different ideas about class allocation.
