Her Econs degree is a BA, but that's just a name. The content of the course was pretty much like any other Econs course, without the distractions of \"general core courses\" and \"cross-disciplinary courses\" or whatever they are called in universities that are more modular.

My understanding from the principal *was* that the centre s standards are pegged to the CEFR, so I'm uncertain that there is a percentage involved, but I'm just sharing what I can see in the third language exam papers that the expectations are high

I agree - that's what I tell my dd too! But already, theres peer pressure - like her (S1) frens would nudge her to aim to offer triple sciences rather than double humanities (I think they were shocked by the sudden jump in requirement to have them make inferences or think critically haha)

For IP kids, non core subjects could perhaps help them enrol into certain programs? ..doodbug\" post_id=\"2130220\" time=\"1709544892\" user_id=\"13281:
And doodbug makes a good point - flexibility is indeed an important consideration..

RE: FSBB (Full Subject-Based Banding)
Thank you for the sharings, chenlaoshi, zacs mum, doodbug, phtthp!!
(Apologies for the ignorance,) I had not considered such a structure before! However, my dd s frens (S1) are already discussing post secondary options, suggesting that it may be better (Iām not sure in what sense) to enter a polytechnic rather than a JC
She was disappointed though, that there will be no chance for retake of MTL. Btw, for our school, even if you do not qualify for HMT (based on PSLE results), as long as you (S1 G3 student) score at least AL4 (PSLE MT), the school allows them to opt for HMT. Still, there are only 2 classes of HCL in her cohort (of ~5 G3 classes)
I shall share whenever possible -

A retired lady was in my non-beginner Python class! Even though the pace was quick for her (she couldn't answer the ad-hoc pop quizzes properly), the (American) instructor & fellow coursemates were patient. She tried hard, so the course could even be completed ahead of time, with extra technical tips thrown in!

Hi. When the lecture falls on a HBL day, it can be online. Rarely, when it is a cohort common lecture, it can be such that students are sitting in class watching a recorded lecture. (Afaik in our school) Lectures are typically 'physical'
...Is it all IB lectures are physical (no online or recorded) for the schools in Singapore offering it? -
RE: Networking Group - JCs General
Hi. For the Year 6s (AY2024) in our school, IB MT B SL results (average grade ~6.8) are also released today. The cohort sat for their papers in Nov 2023. If the student does not obtain a grade 7 (a score of at least ~84% in this sitting), a breakdown of each component would be given to them. That is, scaled marks for oral, paper 1, listening, & reading
Congratulations to everyone!!
