The one I am drooling over is about $20K. Not sure about entry levels.

Got mine at $12k years ago. And of course, regretted I didn't get a nicer one cos the prices have more than doubled. 😢 😢

No, cos cannot sell back type. It's just a feel-good number.

BTW, used to have a colleague who is an avid watch collector. He's really good at spotting the next hot brand and would buy before prices popped. He doesn't resell though.

Omega is a good brand. They carry stuff in boy sizes too. Also, I like the warranty. once I brought it in for checking when it stopped, and they replaced the battery (mine is quartz) for free! i think my omega seamaster cost less than 2K - but it's stainless steel and mechanical (so cheaper).

Some uncle gave my hubby a very very old Omega...it's probably 30-40 y/o - still going strong. But be warned, exp watches also cost a lot to maintain - so do think about the cost for servicing. And that's the primary reason why we stopped at 2.

For other boy sizes (saw that being mentioned), IWC has nice ones too.

Those who are not pantang about 2nd hand watches can go to http://www.passionasia.com (cannot remember if got sg or not). Their showroom is at Funan.

I personally wish for a Patek Philippe for their ability to retain value....but that will take many many long years.

thanks ... was thinking about this too...

talking about 2nd hand watches...heard from 2nd hand dealers that the best buy will be 2nd hand, 1st hand owners tend to 'lose' a lot..
              true?

Must buy from trusted sources - at least those that have been around a long time. A friend's father is a serious amateur, he buys from pawnshops and sells via ebay. There had been times when he was fooled by fakes! - a guy who always looks at watches some more.

I think it depends on the type of watch. Those limited editions, those tourbillions - I'm sure will only appreciate in value. but those 'normal' types, probably the 1st owner will lugi if they sell to 2nd hand dealers. Then again, for 2nd hand buyer, papers may be missing, warranty may not be there - so it's buy at your own risk. Personally I'll buy only those pieces that attract me - 1st/2nd hand not withstanding.

Hour Glass sale may be a good place to hunt. DH got a Gerald Genta retrograde at half the price (no box though, we paid about 200 to get a GG box from somewhere else) once.

Blingbling fans may want to consider Chopard - 'Happy' diamond watches.

Be mindful where you send your watches for servicing too.

BIL’s Tag and Breitling inside kena change to seiko parts, found out when he brought back to agent.

Agreed. That is the reason why i always sent back to the designated agent for servicing...but really ex...one time go into the Hospital like maybe about 500?
