          Hi Daddies & Mummies

We want to enrol our DS whom will be 5 yrs next year in music classes in north area… any recommendations as he loves music which we wan to allow him to try out & continue if he shows capability.

What should we b looking out for in a music sch (eg: teachers, class size, teaching methods & etc)?

Our DD tried out in yamaha when she was 5 but after 1 year she didn’t like it & took up chinese dance instead… we can see e interest & her growth from there…

          TIA…

          Regards

          Kelly

My daughter is 7 yrs old and with Yamaha group piano for 2 yrs. Yamaha signed her up for Grade 1 for Mar 2016 but her class will be disbanded due to students dropping out. We hope to find her a good affordable private piano teacher near Marine Parade area. We are not into exams but would like her to acquire enough to be able to enjoy playing. Grateful if parents in this area can PM or email me contacts and recommendations!

              Hi Kelly,

I came across this article today about what to look out for in a music school, I found it really interesting, hope it gives some insight about how to assess all the many options out there...

I highly recommend using http://www.SGMusicLessons.com.sg to look for your 1 to 1 music teacher. The teachers listed are qualified and you can browse through the profiles of each teacher to select one that you find suitable. They offer teachers teaching different instruments piano, violin, etc...

                Hope this helps 🙂

Hi, can anyone help provide some advice… My boys 6 and 4 are with Yamaha now doing the electone for about 1-2 years. I’m thinking of progressing and learning music with them since I feel that I can provide supervision and encouragement simultaneously but yamaha is disallowing parental accompaniment soon.

Should I sign up for additional home piano lessons or looked for another music school that allows me to sit in and learn with them?

If you want to learn yourself best to get a teacher yourself, preferably one who is comfortable and experienced in teaching adults. You can perhaps somewhat learn an instrument by observing others' lessons and you might be able to play some pieces quite decently this way, but if you wish to play a high level you will need someone to supervise and give feedbacks to you.

My kids are with Kels Music in Bukit Timah doing piano and violin and some guitar and drums.

They have been around for a long time and is one of the better ones.
Good with individual and small groups like pair.

So far they are enjoying it and learning well.
Was recommended to us by friends.
They are experienced, have good results and is one of the most well-known there.
                      Teachers are friendly too.

Hi, read thru bunnybluey post above & i have the similar situation like her. My gal of 6 would like to pick up piano & i am hoping to find a music school around marine parade or katong area for her to attend group lesson & cultivate her interest. Me too, hopefully she can progress well & not drop halfway like me. May i know any mummies/daddies can recommend a good school to start with? Much appreciated!
