According to what my friends shared with me, yes, the standard seems to be higher and if the child is not very strong in Chinese, external help is needed. In Sec 1, they need to write books review. If your child is strong in her normal Chinese and loves to read Chinese story books, understand Chinese news articles, should be manageable. As what I know, the school is training the girls to be bilingual, hence, both English and Chinese are equally important.

Hi! My DD will be Sec 3 next year. She required a tutor for Maths and may be Science. Any advise for a good IP Tuition centre? I have called the Aspen Learning Centre, they only have classes for RI, RGS, DHS, HCI and VJC. Preferred the centre to be at the east side or center.

Time flies, we are coming to the end of the year and our girls are going Sec 2 next year!

EOY was over a week ago, what do your girls think about the papers? Accordingly to my dd, she said most of them find that most papers were quite difficult. What do your girls say? Is it quite a nrom that NYGH set difficult papers?

I think it’s quite normal. The sec 2 math paper was so difficult til some can’t finish the paper and dome even cry after the exam.

Just don’t understand why ???

Yes, can't believe it's coming to end of the year already! Dd was just saying something about the personalised curriculum and boarding school programme for the Sec 2 yesterday.


As for the EOY, I heard from dd there were girls who failed certain papers in her class. She said a handful of her classmates had been called up yesterday and told that the science teacher will be conducting extra lessons for them. Not sure if it will apply to other subjects or not.
Markings are much stricter now as compared to pri schools and this is something we have learnt to accept since starting Sec 1.
Eg Highest score for this LA compo is 24/30 (80%) for the cohort if she remembers correctly whereas highest in compo for her pri school is usually close to full marks, sth like 39/40.


While we have gotten all dd's marks, I am still waiting for the SDMS to be updated as it will be difficult to interpret it without knowing the level of difficulty of the papers.
The SDMS will give the percentile of your dd's results for each subject, so we know where she stands in the cohort for each of the subject and work on her weaker ones.

I understand many gals didn’t have time to finish the EOY Maths paper. A contributing factor for the high failures.

I just don’t understand why the teacher wanna set the sec 2 math paper 1 so difficult til even the maths olympiad students also found it hard. Is the EOY purpose is to make students can’t finish the paper and cry ?

Most students came out kept saying die liao die liao…
