jedamum:
the most impt thg is the kid has to be Kiasu and not the parents
The thing with kids who think they can't spell is that they are more careful.Mami_Jazz:
Initially, he cant spell words like pig, cow. mud ...and was stressed by the more difficult words like \"mountains\", \"people\" \"crane\" ....
what i did was to teach him ONE word at a time/ a day ...and start with the difficult one, once he can spell the difficult ones will boost his confident with the subsequent simpler words ..

All is not lost. It is afterall only spelling tests. -

kiasukids.com...hm...i thought we already have some pioneers here?
anyway, my boy will not tend to go down the kiasu lane, cos we focused quite a fair bit on not giving in to peer pressure (aka how to say NO)...on the other side of the coin, going with the flow in the rat race, to him, is part and parcel of peer pressure  (his stand....'others learn this and this does not mean i must learn this and this', 'others get full marks does not mean i must get full marks....so long i learn can already right?') -
The smarty pants as usual!
I like! More kids shud have good
self confidence like your boy! -
buds:
 I used to be uptight. Until he cried over getting 99marks for a 'mock paper' that i gave him. That's when we started to tell him that getting full marks is not everything...then he started this....The smarty pants as usual!

He is not a naughty kid...he just has too many opinions on how things should be  ....can get on my nerves sometimes. -
jedamum:
Maybe my DD can learn that from him for some things that aren't that essential? She is a perfectionist.

Ah, but as a boy destined to be a man, just be sure that he does score GOOD, even if he doesn't score perfect. Society is more demanding on QA with regards to men - we have to be successful, or no woman will wan... sorry, I mean, or we will not be considered \"man\" enough. The peer pressure on men is different than the kind on women....
Coming back to coolbaby's problem - I was wondering, coolbaby, does your boy read a lot? It will help. Language is best learned when used like this. Reading will assist spelling. One more thing - the problem won't be solved overnight, don't panic, be patient.

Yah... it's so true. My mum was just telling me that so what if my son inherits our house next time. If he doesn't do well enough in life, he might not even earn enough to pay for the running cost eg. utilities, property tax, etc... -
Mami_Jazz:
i cant believe these words are from u
those words are from him ah...
while i strive for perfection in my role, i can't expect perfect results from him due to his nature

That's a fine line to tread....different people has different views on what are essential.Maybe my DD can learn that from him for some things that aren't that essential? She is a perfectionist.
When it comes to setting up his toy city, my boy wants perfect workable traffic directional signs and road widths

ya. GOOD is good enough for us, cos we feel that society demand men to show leadership/charisma in addition to their good grades rather than just merely excellent grades.
Aiyo...off topic! My point is so long the kid is not having difficulty in reading (eg dyslexia), getting 9/10 or 8/10 sometimes is good enough. -

Cool Man... I stand up and second this...
