I find the lower science are becoming the upper science...my DD was tested on sec 3 although she's lower. Very happy that she gotten an A1!

      Congrats on the A1.

I've noticed a lot of this particularly in the last year. The worksheets that I used 5 years ago for Express Sec 1 are still appropriate for maybe 2/3 of the students, but the other 1/3 are doing a harder level. I have to run certain parts of the class sessions at O'Level and get them going on the O'Level difficulty worksheets (usually combined sci level) to adequately prepare them. And it is not just top schools or IP programs that are doing this. Even express track Sec 1's are sometimes getting hit with very difficult material. I've seen a lot of Sec 1's this year from \"regular\" schools, where the tests are harder than Raffles or Nanyang Girls.

I've juiced up the level of our Holiday Programmes in response to this. And during the year, we have students bring in everything they get from school, so we track exactly the level they will be tested at.

Here is an idea that may help parents: Look at the topic titles. There are certain names for topics which are traditional lower secondary names (found in assessment books or the MOE syllabus). Then there are the upper secondary names. Just as an example, if a Sec 1 student is doing \"Speed\" as a topic, then that is probably \"regular\" Sec 1. But if they are doing \"Kinematics\", then that is more like a Sec 3 level. There are similar tipoffs in Chemistry and Biology as to what the level really is.

Mind Stretcher is starting their Lower Science Programmes. Heard they are using trained ex teachers to develop their full suite of Secondary programmes.

Having their Open House on 7 Nov and 14 Nov. Something on CSI Journey for the Lower Secondary Science. Title sounds fun. Can refer to http://www.mindstretcher.com/OPenHouse/ for more info.

Feedback welcome. They are also having their trial classes on. I think also next month or something. Feedback, pls.

Popular - can go to Bras Besar Complex or other bigger branches.
