Is Popular bookstore selling the oral practice video clips and email writing format? Any recommendation? :slapshead:
I haven't been able to find any in Popular bookstore.
Has your child's school started on the new oral format? I hope the teacher has given the students some guidelines on how to tackle oral. It's rather different from the previous format.
My daughter's school has started on the new format of testing and I think the oral component is either 40 or 50 marks. -
DS’s school has been practising the new oral format with them since SA1. According to DS the new format is easier.

Hello mummies and daddies!
My girl is also taking psle in 2017! Seems far far away but when I notice this thread, I think it's good to have a community to discuss! Especially there's so many changes sometimes, I do get a bit lost. :thankyou:
Thanks for setting up this thread!

That's really good!
I only got to know about the change in the oral format before September holidays. My daughter definitely needs more Chinese stimulation this school holiday. -

Relax.....My DS just finished his PSLE less than a month ago, seems that is not that stressful. My DD will be doing on 2017. As long as they do constant revision and keep track of what they learned from P4 onwards, PSLE should be smoothly handled. -
My school has started on the new PSLE oral format since SA1 this year.
Now, I am pretty sure that it is indeed easier than the older format!
My DD2 (P3) received full marks in SA1 & SA2 English oral which has never happened before under the old format.
My DD1 (P4) also received full marks for this round SA2 English oral.
Both also received close to full marks under the new Chinese oral format. I have never seen anything near full marks under the old format. The new format has certainly helped to boost their overall English SA2 scores to go above 90 whereas under the old format, oral had always dragged down their overall score.
Is it the new norm to award full marks for oral under the new format? -
DS did say that it is easier and he also scored pretty well. I am wondering if this is because it is the first time they are switching to this format so they grade more leniently to encourage the kids.
-
For English Oral, it is possible to get full or near full marks, even in P6.
It is really reassuring to hear that students are also doing better for Chinese Oral under the new format. -
Can anyone share what is the new format?
I am curious to know as Orals has always been the killer for languages.
