      Hi,

May i check if there is a need to participate in

      - 31st American mathematics Contest
      - Secondary Maths Olympiad

I think my question it is a need or just a want. Having some prior training will help the kids cope better?

The above competition are optional to students, not compulsory.

Do you mean SMO (Singapore Maths Olympiad) competition for Secondary Maths Olympiad? You could buy the SMO past year series and practice from there, http://sms.math.nus.edu.sg/Publication/ ... .aspx#Book

Of course you could take some training if your ds is keen, some find it more effective this way 😄 you could learn on your own by self practicing since there are solutions provided.

Finally! my DS has completed his high school and going to the college section next year.

How times flies as I still remember his first day reporting to HCI 4 years ago. I am glad that he survive and thrive in the course although he went in just above the COP.

Anyone DS is planning to take the GATE program in college next year? What is the advantage of this program beside learning in a more accelerated, deeper and broader content of individual subject?

                  Congrats joe0599!

All the best to your DS and I am sure he will enjoy his JC years as it is going to be more happening

Is GATE the JC level of CSE programme?

Yes, he is looking forward to JC!

Apparently, there are 2 special programs in JC mainly GATE and SMTP. You will have to apply for it and sit for a selection test unless you are invited for direct admission.

Yes. It comes under English (not E Lit) in the booklist… so I think it applies to all Sec 3.

can’t believe my son is going to be in S3! Seems like only yesterday I was asking about school uniforms in this forum…
