        hi ladies,

I appreciate all your kind words and encouragement. :grphug:
she scored above 30 for her subjects....so the teacher and principal is giving her a chance to do standard. I know I seem negative in requesting that she does foundation for science. the reason is because she is weak and the open ended section requiring the 'explain your answer' requires skill to handle.

but Schweppes did highlight to me about daughter's excitement in wanting to do standard science and I should be positive and allow her to take this route.

What is the criteria that students must meet to continue taking standard subjects in P6?

Talk to your DD when she gets back. If she is game for it, then fight the battle with her. I am sure you still have some time to make your choice.. actually your request..since your DD has already been given the green light to take standard.

I will talk to her about it. I hope that she will remember the tough road she will have to take if she wants to do standard…and for her a much tougher route. as her mother, I am fully aware but very worried she makes a promise to work very hard and then forgets about it when she is in the midst of psle preparation.

since I know her weakness, shouldn’t I make a decision whether to take foundation or standard?

If in your shoes, I will consider if doing the subject at standard level will mean a big stretch for my kid. What did it take for her to be able to make it this far? Has it been at the expense of a lot of other things, a lot of stress on you and on her?

Will it mean that to clear this subject, she may be sacrificing time for the others and eventually affect her results of the other subjects?

Would doing the subject at foundation level mean that she will be able to cope better at her pace allowing her more time to improve on her other subjects?

Don’t think so much about PSLE and t-score to get into what stream at which school. Think about your child’s capabilities and make your decision base on that.

Janet, did the ed psych recommend any specific follow up remediation for your dd? If so you can also speak with the therapist for a better understanding on how to help her, and the likely challenges.

OT, anyone tried the superstar teacher online Science? A Friend of mine subscribed the science program for her P3, on top of science enrichment at TLL, and her DS managed 100% for his science. Her DS requested for her to subscribe the P4 science for the coming year. My Friend said it helped her DS a lot.

Dunno if it is worth splurging $500 on the video lessons. Any comments?
