          Moderator's Note:

Moderation has been conducted to prune this thread of all discussions regarding the retention rate of JCs. Due to the nature of that discussion, the posts have been moved to the Rants subforum and can be found http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=84402.

A gentle reminder to all parents when engaging in discussions - please focus on the topic, and not the person. Members should be free to make any comment, and defend their views as necessary, but please refrain from calling each other names. Nobody likes to be called a coward, an idiot, or plain old stupid. We don't use these terms on our kids, and there is no reason to use them on complete strangers on the Internet either.

And even if we disagree with a view, common sense will tell us that rubbishing the view as stupid will only trigger unpleasant responses. If we have the sincere intention to correct views that we feel are wrong, we will probably get a lot more mileage if we put forth our arguments in a cordial fashion. Civility is the necessary lubricant for constructive debates.

Thank you. I wish everyone a happy and safe Friday the 13th, and do have a great exam-free weekend with your kids! I know I will šŸ™‚

Elder boy is left with PH and CH papers to sit for.

Up till last week, he felt that the sch prelim Maths papers were more difficult than the A levels.

His gauge is based on how much time he has left to check his answers again.

Alarm clock set to ring tomorrow?

Elder boy off his lights to sleep.

I just went to knock on his door to check with him whether he has set his alarm clock to ring tomorrow morning at the right time.

              :spank: he forgot.

Your son must have had a very busy two weeks with only PH and CH left to sit for now. School prelim Math was more difficult than the As? The prelim Mat papers must have been really tough then, esp for the earlier paper.

He said he had to rush through the checking for the sch prelims MA papers after completion whereas for the A levels MA papers, he could check slowly and still have a little bit of time left.

The school teacher started on the TYS after the prelims (he vaguely recalls) and he felt that the TYS is easier than sch prelims.

It should be straight-forward to self prepare. Just go buy some of the SAT test papers and do it yourself. Most A-level students should be able to ace the Math section. The English test is culturally biased towards American English, otherwise, it should present little problem for most Singaporeans too.
