Oh I see. Just came back from parent teacher conference. My girl did really well for EL and Math, but Chinese only in the 70s. Teacher said mother tongue pulled her down that's why not in the class 3E. Hope your kids did well and went to satisfactory class 😂

Hi parents, can I find out what is the approx percentage of P6 boys making it to SJI each year?

In SJI Junior, only 1 in 5 boys (50 kids) managed to get into SJI Sec.
            Get from SJI website:
            try Into Secondary 1
            Admission By PSLE Results
Entry into SJI is by merit only. Singapore students would be admitted based on their PSLE T-scores. Returning Singaporeans who would like to be admitted into Secondary 1 are advised to sit for the SPERS-Sec papers. Foreign students who would like to be admitted into Secondary 1 should have sat for the PSLE examinations and would be admitted based on their PSLE T-scores.

Unless there are exceptional circumstances, foreign students without PSLE T-scores would not be admitted into Secondary 1.

All Primary 6 boys in Singapore will sit for the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) at the end of the year. The PSLE cut-off scores for SJI for the years, 2012 - 2014, are provided in the Table below.

            Year\tAffiliated* Cut-Off for the O Level Track\tNon-Affiliated Cut-Off for the O Level Track\tAffiliated* & Non-Affiliated Cut-Off for the IP Track
            2014\t238\t245\t250
            2013\t238\t245\t251
            2012\t238\t242\t-

            * SJI’s affiliated primary schools are SJI Junior, St Anthony’s Primary School, De La Salle Primary School and St Stephen’s School. Currently, close to 40% of the boys in SJI are from the affiliated schools.

            Admission by DSA
The Direct School Admission (DSA) Exercise aims to promote holistic education by giving participating schools greater flexibility in selecting students while holding to the key principles of transparency and meritocracy. For students, the DSA provides them the opportunity to demonstrate a more diverse range of achievements and talents in seeking admission to secondary schools.

For more information, please visit the DSA@SJI page.

            Admission by Appeal
The S1 Posting Exercise is an annual exercise conducted by MOE to post Primary 6 pupils to a secondary school based on their PSLE results and their school choices and the vacancies available in the school. This exercise is conducted from late November to December annually.

                Dear De La Salle parents,

I am intending to put my child in the school in 2017. Registering in 2016.

Is there any parents here who knows the PSLE quality subject passes for De La Salle school? I heard this year, the school performed lower than national. This worries me a little. Is the school on a downwards trend? Can anyone enlightens me on this?

If i have asked the question in the wrong thread, kindly help to direct me to the right one. Thank you very much.

Hi, the cohort of pupils who took P6 PSLE in 2015 and the cohort of pupils such as your child who will be taking P6 PSLE in the year 2022 are of different calibre. When we look at the cohort of pupils taking PSLE for any particular year in any particular school, the quality of the academic achievement of that cohort matters a lot. Of course, we cannot based it only on one particular year to assess a school is good or bad at producing high scores. We should look at the percentage of pupils who qualify for the better-recognized schools like RI, RGS, NYGH, HC etc. By merely looking at the top score produced by any particular primary school is not a good indicative that the school is doing well. We have to look at the percentage who get A* or A for Eng, Math, Sci and Mother Tongue. This is just my point of view.

                    Dear Sembgal,

Exactly my thoughts. That was what I was trying to find out. Can’t seem to locate the info so tried asking in this group.

My last info gotten was that Da La Salle is below national average. This is worrying for me. Any other parents can comment?

                      Hi,

Im new in this forum . My son is currently in Primary 1 in De La Salle School. Anyone here has a child in that level? I noticed that the school has so many young teachers with very little experience and some are really not gentle to the kids. Heard that many good and caring teachers left the school and this seems disturbing.

                        Hi All,

Am new to this forum. This is Daddy here. I am an old boy from DLS and am considering joining the Alumni. I am considering sending my little girl who was born in 2012 into DLS. I am wondering which sec school might be affiliated to DLS for my girl? Anyone can advise?
