Orientation…hmm…seems a long time ago for me. On the 1st day school next year (6weeks later I supposed) there will be the assembly where all parents/guardians be allowed to watch on the outskirts…hence all parents are herein reminded to Switch Off or to adjust to Silent Mode for your phones etc as either the school Authorities mostly be giving short speeches on addressing the newly enrolled students/parents/guardians.

All students are encouraged to participate in CCAs or ECAs namely choir, ballet, netball, dance inc, computer club etc.
My girl is in the Speech & Drama (needs to be selected by the relevant teachers though) She is under the well known Trinity College London’s group of instructors. They are extremely good and had professional qualifications from London and NUS especially my girl’s instructor, Ms Catrouna. She has BA from NUS as well as Dip in Ed awarded by NIE together with her many qualifications from London.
Luckily my girl is under her group and it has been 5 years now as the group consisted Degree Holders with good English background. This is very essential and important for Speech, drama, debates, presentation etc since majority of the subjects are taught in the commonly used medium - English.
Hence good English (not just having "native accent" as in Caucasian speaking) from Degree Holders are not to be overlooked.
However to what I gathered, this group might not renew their contract due to the school wanting to bring in another (with just one man instructor - a one-man-show - whom does Not have a degree) to take all P1 & P2 speech & drama group. Rumours have been going around that the school prefers to let him take over the P3 P4 P5 P6 in 2016 too.
I am sorely displeased as different standards in instructors will greatly affect my girl’ examination performances/grades.
Very disturbed right now. -
Newly enrolled students and their parents are encouraged and advised to discuss on what or which CCAs or ECAs to participate in as ballet, speech & drama etc must be paid additionally according to the rates quoted.
Netball, choir and other groups are "free" though…

For All P1 parents in 2016: -
(Just a simple suggestion in case…)
Do get ready/pack a small box of simple food/snack (best would be what your girl loves usually) for recess time as the first few day or first week the confusion is still on…although I did mention earlier that there is a "buddy" system in place whereby each new girl has a higher primary buddy to help and accompany during recess but in cases like my girl when she was in P1…she simply refuses to eat or take any food bought by the buddy although the buddy had been really sweet but my girl did not really fancy any foods from the school canteen.
And the canteen is Really Crowded with long queues… -
Btw, any parent whose girl is going to P5 in 2016 (if any one wanted lol) buying P5 Math textbooks and workbooks…please leave me a note as I have extras new sets of Math textbooks and workbooks…
Free of charge of course…my girl going P6 so might have to discard should nobody wants them … -

How is the school dental facilities?
Will they ask/inform parents beforehand for any major dental procedures required for girls?
I heard some horror stories (for other schools) where some tasks were performed by school dentist when actually they were not needed at all. -

what’s your thought about your girl in girls Sch? Many friends I spoke to discourage me to enrol my daughter in a girls school. spoke to my niece from rgs graduating this year she said its true that in p5 and p6 there are many lesbians and can be scary.
Many also feared that either the girl will behave differently with boys around.
My wish to put her in girls Sch is so she’s "well protected"… But with many negative comments influencing my decision, I m in a dilemma.

As for dental services…the school dental do not seek parental’s approval lol…(since the 70s till now…) Unless you are alike me "Complaint Queen" …instructs your girl to inform dentist "must ask my parent/parents before any extraction (as I had 8 of my tiny teeth extracted even though they aren’t "shaking" & thereafter my 8 missing teeth never grew back!!!)

Lesbian??? Nope not really but there are a handful "no integrity" …"bullies"…"ganged ups"…which is why I complaint so much…Different girl schools have their own "cultureS"

Very Good Principal. But teachers ok ok. Kena bully by "a gang"…one can only complaint…at most is split them into various classes but no guarantee wont be "attacked" when staying back for CCA ECA etc as my daughter had her Whole School Bag Thrown Away by so&so…
She ran around, panicking. Nobody dared to say or do anything…the rest hereafter is up to one’s imagination…
