:!: :!: total 6 molars and 4 still yet to go…I’m fainting already…Can I ask if her milk teeth is badly decayed that it cannot be save by fillings. With the removal of milk teeth, their permanent teeth may not come out so fast if its not ready and that your DD may have to go w/o her set of permanent teeth for some time.

My DD had the same problem, we send her to SDC to do fillings. There’s too many surfaces to be filled that the dentist suggested we go for GA as the little one may not even have the patience to sit there and get their teeth done. We took the suggestion and her milk teeth is going strong (no wobbly teeth). Of course, the bill that came along reflected the treatment that she received but I’m happy with the results.

SDC does allow you to choose your preferred dentist but you will end up with paying private rate and this is not cheap. Initially consultation alone is $100+/- and that is the standard fees for first visit. Subsequent visit is lower.

:!: :!: really! I asked before and the registration counter lady say cannot choose. But at $9 for basic cleaning ($9 for every filling)....I can't quibble. 😉

can book one meh? I only know that the last dentist my kids have is a fairly old lady - very motherly, very detailed and a wee bit naggy (I like lah). Hope they can always get her during their visits. DS2 allowed her to do stuff which he didn't allow other dentists to do.

DS saw Dr Ng for first visit (was randomly assigned) and subsequently has been seeing the same dentist. I requested that DD also see her so that she can see gor gor undergoing dental check and be less afraid. It worked and both of them are happy seeing Dr Ng. Future appt will also be with her. Think first time can't chosse the dentist but future visits are with same dentist. Or maybe it's becos my kids are young, so they get to see the same dentist all the time. I think generally the dentists at SDC are very patient 😄

My 6-yr old DD's molars have just come out. I was searching the internet trying to find out if these are permanent teeth (the answer is yes) and saw some people suggest putting sealant on kids' molars to prevent cavities. Has any of you done that before? It's true molars are the easiest to get cavities. On the other hand, there're also some concerns about the safety of the sealant materials.

We take good care of our kids' teeth since they were born and they don't eat sweets. So touch wood no cavities so far. Therefore I'm not sure if it's necessary to do it. :?

Don't think so it's necessary else they would mandate? I was told by the dentists to take note to brush the bite surface thoroughly. And try to let them drink more plain water to flush away food.

                  hi all

                  Thank you for the advise.

My DD1’s molars are quite badly decay, though not wobbly, but some of it are already half gone. And one of the filling was done with mercury (done many yrs back), hence he suggest to replace it. It seems alot of work to be done…hiaz…

He said permanent molars will be out around 11 yrs old, as she is 9 this yr, maybe thats why he suggest her to remove all the baby teeth so it will not infect the permanent ones. We took an xray and can clearly see all the permanent teeth underneath the baby teeth.

My DD is dreading to go this wkend. And I really cant imagine how is she going to eat her food. She told me even with 2 molars gone now, she felt abit pain and its abit swollen. I think i am putting the rest of the teeth on hold first.

                        jesschan:

My older boy had a phobia of dentist too due to a bad experience with his school dentist in P1. So I brought him to Sparkle Dental at Square 2 when he needed a filling in P2. The dentist made some talk with him and let him watched a cartoon movie while filling and cleaning his teeth. Everything went smoothly and he came out smiling.
                        Hi Jess,

i saw your message only after making an appointment with GPA united sq.
may i know how much your dentist @ Sparkle Dental is charging?

re GPA, i am very happy with the outcome 😄
boy behaved like an angel once he sat down on the dentist chair and just guai guai let the dentist do her work for the next 5-10 mins.
dentist is nice and friendly, and i think the Hi 5 video that they are screening helps TONS! my son is totally distracted while i stayed by his side and chatted on about the characters in the show.
it is a great relief that he reacted so well this time cos dentist said that his stains are genetic and is likely to recur till he reached adulthood. 😞 meaning more frequent dental visits will be required in the future.

but the visit burnt a big hole in my pocket - consultation + treatment together costs more than $110. '😢'
so i'm really keen to explore other alternatives.
