Its very heartwarming to find that the kids enjoy studying in Marymount. In a way it promotes them to love studying and encourage them to learn new things too.

Reason why i seemed to stress so much on academic is becos i happened to read other threads and some complained that they regretted sending their kids to the wrong kindy which did not prepare them well enough for Pri.

Recalling back, i started to realise that i did not ask much questions on academics stuffs (syllabus, what text bks, how they teach the kids etc)when i enrolled my girl for next year Pre-N intake.

Cos in this thread, i did not seem to see anyone saying this school prepare their kids well for Pri 1. Hence that's why i pop out this question ๐Ÿ™‚

Another worry is the enrichment courses, i noticed that the public transport doesn't seems convenient. There's also no nearby bus stop. If i will to opt for enrichment course when my gal reach kindergarten, that means she will miss her school bus and i may got to get my mum to fetch her. *Guess i think too far, she not yet even study Pre-N*

Wonder if there a handful of kids attending their enrichment courses(Speech and Drama, Chinese) ?

yup, the place is not that convenient, considering that you have to climb the slope, nearest bus stop is still 5 mins away, etcโ€ฆbest is to have a car, or take school bus. but for enrichment, I prefer outside enrichment mainly because of transportโ€ฆ

            Hi all!

I am going to register my DS for Nursery next year. Went to MMK today to take a look and really like the place, huge, airy and clean! Went during the 2nd sessions and all the kids seemed to enjoy themselves very much doing different things, some outdoors and some indoors. Although the classes are huge ie. about 24 per class but they break into small groups of about 3 or 4 gathering around the tables.

I tried asking for a time-table but they said no but during orientation there will be a briefing. The computer lab looks great.

This is a MOE registered kindy with 40 years of history (admin. lady told me) so tried and proven.

Hope my DS will settle in nicely and enjoy going to school too like the kids of some mummies here!

              Hi mummies

Any idea if Marymount has school bus to TPY? Itโ€™s shag to walk there even though we stay nearby. Is it a catholic church Kindergarten.
              Whatโ€™s the fees like?

              Thanks!

Can I share with you I just registered my 2.5 yo son at MMK last Monday and the admin. lady told me my son got the LAST vacancy for next year! Anybody coming after him will be on waitlist! ๐Ÿ™

Not to panic you but it is not easy to get vacancies at good pre-schools around AMK, Bishan, Thomson. I tried and hit so many road blocks!

Suggest you call up Learning Vision at Grassroots club to try or Patschoolhouse @ Whitley (if budget is not an issue for you). Or Kinderland at Yio Chu Kang they have 3 sessions per day!

Which year your child is in? If it is the year of the golden pig, please go search NOW!! Do not delay as my experience told me it is tough to get vacancies.

Do not be discouraged, continue looking!

Thanks Desertwind! I guess your kid is going to Nursery and not pre-nursery since borned in the year of pig? My kid borned in the year of rat, so the pre-nursery class is very hot. Lower teacher to student ratio.

Thanks for the suggestion on Learning Vision at Grassroots club and Patschoolhouse @ Whitley. But it's too far and they are full-fledged CC yah?

Yah, you are so right! Hit so many road blocks already, but hv to keep on searching lor. Am still in dilenma whethere to put in CC or Kindergarten. Managed to find a 2-hr Playgroup for my kid starting next term, so at least something to dong till I find a suitable one.

                        Hi Surf, ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think they have a chit-chat thread about CC or Kindergarden so you can go check it out the discussion about it.

I have another recommendation for you, check out \"Thomson Baptist Church Kindergarden\" which is next to United Square. Not sure whether nearer for you. Their website looks good!

Yes, Learning Vision & Patschoolhouse are CCC. But recently I am just thinking if kid goes to CCC, there is government subsidies for working mum etc. But how about if we go Kindergarden? Maybe no subsidy? I dunno I got to find out myself! :?

Another way I have tried is by going into MOE & MCYS website download a listing of all childcare centres and sort by the DISTRICT/AREA CODE and just look at those near your place. But this is a very tedious process and impossible to call up all hence I gave up. ๐Ÿ˜ข

I am relying on my very good SUPER KIASU friend who is a SAHM who did all the research and recommend them to me! I hope to pass on this benefit to you too! Heh...Heh...
