      Hi melloh88

Just went to the school this afternoon, overall good impression on the school and the student leader that bring us around the school. She has a good knowledge and explanation of the questions we asked.

        Thanks, asm.

I went this morning. Not many people there. Wanted to find out more about the conduct of the students there. Can’t find much review.

          Dear all,

Can anyone please share their thoughts on this school? Particularly pertaining to discipline and commitment of the teachers?

Also, we heard that Taekwondo is a compulsory CCA, is this true? And if yes, is it compulsory to take up a 2nd CCCA as well?

We are in a dilemma on whether to send our DS to Edgefield or Nan Chiau High. He has a t-score of 244. His form teacher said it would be a pity if he gave up the opportunity to go to Nan Chiau to challenge himself rather than stay in the comfort zone at Edgefield.

We are worried that he is unable to cope with the pressure of being one of the "poorer" students in Nan Chiau as compared to being a "better" student at Edgefield, thus affecting his overall confidence in himself.

We are also worried that although he scored an A for Mother Tongue (he did not take HMT for psle), he does not really like the subject & would struggle/be left behind, since the school is a SAP school with around 6 out of 8 classes taking HMT.

The thing that attracts us to Nan Chiau is that we feel it may have a better environment to mould him into a person with good character.

Sorry for the long post but we really hope to make an informed and correct decision, so we would appreciate any inputs and thoughts…thank you.

              Hi,

we have not submitted our entry as yet, and are still deciding.

We have never visited the school premises before, but just hearsay that it is not bad.

sorry that I can’t share more with you on this school.

For yourself, have you already decided to send your child there?

Just submitted my DS S1 entry.

I choose this school for his 1st choice.
As his result not as good as your kid.
Not much choice for him to choose :stupid:

I think it is a bit too late for me to post this as today is already 2 Dec and ek2727 would already have submitted the options. But to answer your queries above. Edgefield is one of the better sec schools in Punggol as compared to the others while Nan Chiau is the brand name sch in Sengkang.

My elder daughter is studying in Edgefield and will be advancing to Sec 3 next year. Her PSLE T-score was not fantastic, only 228 and that severely limited our choices. But we decided to go for a new sec school back in 2013 when their O Level batch has not even graduated. It is very important for your child to feel comfortable in school and your child will blossom. My girl is doing well in Edgefield so far. She is top in Lit for Sec 1 and Sec 2 plus straight As in all her subjects. Her L1 R5 is below 10 currently and she is in the top 10% of Edgefield. She will be doing double pure science in Sec 3.

She is very comfortable and loves her teachers. They are very dedicated and caring towards the students. The only 'downside' I would say is that the sch uses Apple products and I had to get her a Macair plus taekwando is compulsory for all levels.....lol but to me that is a good thing. I forgot whether the 2nd CCA is compulsory but my girl is in English Drama as well.

                    Hi Mike

I have put Edgefield as 2nd choice for my ds. May I know whether Edgefield has any class for triple science?

                      Hi JJ,

Yes, Edgefield has triple science. My daughter was also eligible for Triple Science but she wanted to do Lit as well. So she opted for double pure. Hope this info helps. 🙂
