Janet, don’t think the upgrade is brought forward just that they need to get ready & start moving from end Oct onwards & maybe get the girls familiarised with the new environment instead of a huge big mess of adjustment when school re-opens in Jan. That’s what I think it to be.

          Honey,

I see…thought the move to the temp premise means the school can move back to TP earlier. I remember the school also got the girls to familiarize with the earlier temp premise like Jln Rajah.

          Guppy,
Thanks for your reply…at least we can plan the routes next year.

            Hi all

I am going to register my girl this year for P1 next year. Academically, she is just average and but she is very strong in art ie creative art and not just drawing. I was just wondering which school is more suitable for her ie which school would allow her to develop her talent further. SCGS has a strong affiliated secondary school, but I also prefer CHIJ for its catholic values.
            Thank you.

              Hi,
Both schools have their own affiliated secondary school. I don't think either of these schools emphasize on art. Maybe you would like to let your daughter attend an art enrichment class which will give her a chance to further her interest.

                Hi Janet_lee88

Thanks for your reply. My girl has been attending art classes since nursery and I am very happy with her progress so far. My hubby and I prefer CHIJ (TP) as we are catholics (and also within 2 KM) and we would like her to immerse in a convent environment which we believe are more caring (if you know what I mean). However, she may need to rely on the affiliation to get her to a good secondary school, which we prefer SCGS secondary Do you know how CHIJ (TP) secondary is like these days? We have some friends in our age group who are from IJ TP (late 30s) and they are all very nice ladies.

                  Hi breadandmuffins,

                  You are welcome 🙂
I was formerly from CHIJ Toa Payoh both primary and secondary. Although TP is a bit far for us, we are taking in consideration 2 factors: affiliated secondary school and morning school.

If daughter does well for PSLE, she can go to another secondary school but still have option to stay put if she doesn't want to. I've kinda lost touch with other friends bcos I've been rather busy with my kids. However, I have been in contact with my former primary school teacher from IJ.

                    Hi Mummies,

May I know how is the books vendor for IJ TP please ?
Do you face problems buying books every year ? How is the quality of the school uniform ?

In the 4 years that my son has been in school, I’ve encountered problems buying his textbooks (no stock for subject files and some textbooks). Worse thing is these cannot be purchased from Popular.

                      Hi Janet,

Book vendor - Pacific Book Pte Ltd. We had no problems getting the books for the past 2 yrs. You are advised to preorder so that it'll be quicker when you pick them up. Last year, I was out of town for a long time and they called me to confirm that I still wanted the books. When I went there on the last day of book purchase, my boxed order was still waiting for me.

Uniform - quality is ok. No complaints.

Pacific Book seems to be reliable vendor.
