              hi all,

how to prevent small small brownish 'bugs' 'growing' in the uncooked rice?
I keep my uncooked rice in a big Lock & Lock container (i buy 5kg rice). It is airtight and keeps my rice bugs-free. I seldom cook so my rice dun get used up so quickly and bugs still dun turn up. Give it a try. 😎

I dun even keep my rice in an airtight container but I haven’t encountered any bugs. I use a container meant for keeping rice and it came with an "anti-bug" packet that is slotted into the lid. It’s kinda like a silica gel pack but non-toxic, of course. This big container sits along my kitchen wall, right under a wooden towel rack I use to air laundry. However, ever since the pack expired, I’ve never replaced it and it’s still okay. As for my calrose (jap) rice, the pack is small so I keep it in an airtight container.

For whites only you can try Clorox Bleach Pen, available at most supermarkets.
It has two ends and looks like a broad pen in blue.
It took stubborn marker stains off DS white school top but need to repeat the spot 'soaking' couple of times 😉

Try putting a big piece of coal with the rice.
You have to sun the coal first. 😉

I keep my rice in the fridge cuz I had a disgusting encounter once, after leaving them in a container outside 😄
