Mid Year Common Tests, basically SA1

Kind of strange, to have orientation after mid year.. Is there a reason?

Not very sure on why, but Year one and two classes remain the same so it shouldn’t hurt

Lalaland, MM is not orientation because Year 2 classes are the same as Year 1 classes. MM is like bonding session. A lot of activities during MM this year (2015) were cancelled because it was raining everyday so it is good too if MM is postponed to after MYCT.

Will the Year-3s be having OBS training camp next year ? It was postponed from Jan 1st week to March or June this year, wasn’t it? Or was it cancelled altogether ?

Forming a RI sec 2 (2016) math tuition group, looking for a few group mates.

Hi, my boy is currently RI sec 1, going to Sec 2 next year. He is currently doing a 1:1 tuition with his math tutor.

The tutor is quite good and able to explain clearly the concepts. He has taught many IP school students including those from RI. He knows the syllabus well and gives worksheets from various IP schools. But his schedule is very tight and is not able to teach 1:1 when school open. So I would like to look for a few RI students from the same level to form a small group. I am staying near Bartley area which is 3 MRT stations away from RI. The tutor is able to travel to my house. Interested parents, please contact me at 94590289 Joyce.

Additional info on the tutor: The tutor holds a master degree from NUS and has graduated as the top student of his faculty. There were many examples of students’ improvements on his website http://www.maximath.sg

Class of 2016 Raffles Institution: More information about January Induction Programme

Happy New Year and a warm welcome to all of you, Raffles Institution Class of 2016!
There are a couple of matters and dates we will like to draw your attention to during the January
Induction Programme (JIP) which is from 15 to 28 January 2015.
                  1) Reporting time and venue
For the entire period, all students must report every morning at 7.40am in their full secondary school
uniform (no T-shirts) for flag-raising at the Multi-Purpose Hall (please refer to the attached map).
Students will assemble in their Year 4 classes.
Typically, most compulsory items in the JIP schedule will be in the morning while electives and optional
programmes will be in the afternoon.
Should you have no other programmes scheduled (both compulsory ones and those you have signed up
for) that day, you may leave the school at 12.30pm.
                  2) Release of the JIP schedule and sign-up for electives
The JIP schedule will be released on 12 January 2015. Other than the compulsory talks/workshops that
you have to attend, you will also be provided with more details on how you can sign up for the interesting
opt-in electives that have been planned for you. There are limited slots available, so if you have your eye
on the more popular electives, it is recommended that you sign up early to avoid disappointment.
                  3) Compulsory placement tests
Students interested in taking the following subjects/programme must attend the placement tests. Dates of
the placement tests will be released together with the JIP schedule.
                  a) Knowledge and Inquiry
                  b) H2 Music
                  c) H1 and H2 Art
                  d) International Olympiad for Linguistics
                  4) CCA trials
Various CCA trials will be held from 19 to 28 Jan. You can sign up for trial slots from 16 January 2015,
after the briefing on 15 Jan. Please ensure that you sign up for a slot that does not clash with the other
programmes that you are committed to.
That’s all from us for now. So remember to look out for the JIP schedule and electives sign up details on
                  12 January 2015.
If you have any queries on JIP, please email them to [email protected]
                  JIP committee

Thanks! Where did you get this message from? I don't seem to have received it. Or maybe it was only sent to my daughter? Good, at least now I can plan a bit better if I want her to do stuff.
