How is the learning environment in VS? How many classes of IP are there? And how many students per class? Any VS students can advise?

I would like to seek advice from you all
If the Tscore 242. THEN cut off point 243 is the advice to select one of this 6 choices?

Not sure about 2014 intake. For 2013, there are 5 IP classes. Class size around 29-30.

In the past, cut-off pt for VS express hovered between 246 and 247 except for last year's at 243.

But last year's psle top 10% cut-off pt was the lowest at 249. This year is 252.

Thus VS express COP is likely to rise. But no harm giving it a try.

            Good luck!

As per general office admin, VS COP for admission to Sec1/Yr1 2016:

              Express : 248
              IP : 254

My son’s score is 246. He didn’t get in. But he did put VS 1st and 2nd choice, was shortlisted for DSA but not selected during the DSA exercise. Any idea what his appeal chances are and if I should submit the appeal based on academic or CCA?

Sorry to hear about the rejection.
Many schools have come out with this notice that appeal will not be entertained if the t-score is lower than the COP of the school this year. May be a new directive from MOE.
Not sure about VS but you can try.
Since your DS score is below COP, appeal based on CCA should be more appropriate, imho.
                  Wish your ds luck!

Thanks, appealed based on CCA. I really wonder why this year's COP increased so much across the top tier schools. It seems the middle tier school didn't move that much, AHS was 239 last year and this year is 240.

                        Class size is about 38-40.

At upper sec, it is based on subject combination. The more popular combination (eg 3 Sciences) typically has about 40 students at upper sec. All students start off with 8 subjects at Upper Sec. There is no Combined Science. Students will all do Pure Science subjects ie Chemistry, Physics, Biology.
