Not true that none from 2.5-2.8 class got into IP next year. In fact, one of the class has approx 10 students accepted for the program.
On average what proportion of the kids in O level programme applies to get transferred to the IB programme? And on average, what is the \"success\" rate?
I ask this to get a feel - if the kid gets admitted to the O level programme, what are the odds of him eventually doing the IB programme?
Thanks! -
hi parents
please let me know if there is private bus service from cck/ yew tee area to school or from school to moe language centre @ newton?
thanks -
Hi,
Somehow it seems there is no thread on ACSI O Level so I have to use this thread for information. My son has been posted to ACSI O level and I have the following questions (have read through all the previous pages but some clarification is still needed) :
1. I understand that the side gate along AYE is closed due to upgrading of Annex building. Any idea when it will be re-opened for entry?
2. I seemed to have read somewhere that corporate T is only to be worn on last Friday of the month but earlier posts indicated every Friday. Appreciate clarification.
3. Is it necessary to buy the sweater?
4. For O level track, I thought that even if the child has opted to take HCL, he is still required to take normal CL O level exam at Sec 3. Is that right? If so, his points to gain entry to JC will not be compromised (as stated in earlier posts) if he manages to do well in the normal CL O level exam, is it?
5. I am a little confused by the year 1 Discovery Camp booklet. Is the RSP briefing on 8 Jan to be attended by parents, students, or both?
6. Is the Parents Support Group form to be completed only for people who wish to be a parent volunteer or for all who want to be updated with events and news?
7. The locker rental fee of $55 is per annum?
TIA -
hi summer,
First, a warm welcome to the ACSI thread & my best wishes to your son for a fruitful time in the school.
Attempting to clarify some of your doubts:
1) We have not heard news on the re-opening of the side gate along AYE.
2) The Yellow Corporate Tee is to be worn every Friday.
3) If the boys need to keep warm during lesson time / examinations, it is compulsory to wear school related jacket/sweater. Some CCAs do have customised sweaters but that will probably come later after the boys settled into respective CCAs. So I guess it is prudent to buy a school pullover now.
4) Yes, boys taking HCL are required to take Normal CL \"O-level\" exam at sec 3 followed by Higher CL \"O-level\" exam at sec 4, as per required by MOE. He needs to attain a pass for Higher CL at sec 4, to get the 2 bonus points off his L1R5. If at sec 3, he did badly for the normal CL \"O-level\" , the school would probably advise him to drop HCL in year 4 and retake CL \"O-level\" instead.
5) RSP briefing should be attended by both the parents and students.
6) All parents will receive emails /SNAC notices via handphones on PSG events. If you do not wish to be a parent volunteer, you do not need to fill up the form.
7) I have never remembered locker fee to be this expensive! is this amount inclusive of other items? I vaguely remember paying about $10-$15 for the huge lock for my sons and this lock will follow them for the next 4 or 6 years.
Hope this helps.
Cheers! -
Hi Breezy,
Thanks for the clarification. Indeed, i was taken aback when I saw the "Lock and locker fee" of $55 and wondered if it is monthly or other frequency as it is not stated. Acceptable if it is for 4 years though other schools may not make the students pay for this. -
Hi parents, is it true that aCSi provides shuttle bus service to pick up students from Dover mrt to sch in the morning?
-
Hi parents, anyone has contact of school bus operator? Thank u

Hi Summer,
Saw this in their website regarding the lockers. Hopefully it will help.
http://www.acsindep.moe.edu.sg/about-ac ... s/lockers/
Apparently the $55 includes the lock and the rental fee for 4 years. -
In essence, the rental of locker is $10 yearly with the charge of the lock at $15. If our boys lose the locks or the locks are spoilt then we need to pay $15 to change the lock.
