:congrats: Tao Nan for a very solid PSLE results

:thankyou: Dr Chin, vice-principals, teachers and staff of Tao Nan.

86 Students scored 260 and above
147 Students scored 250 and above

Passes : 100%
Express : 94.9%
Chinese Passes : 99.2%
Chinese (A or A*) : 91.7%
English Passes : 100%
English (A or A*) : 83.2%
Maths Passes : 96.1%
Maths (A or A*) : 67.4%
Science Passes : 90.0%
Science (A or A*) : 70.1%
Higher Chinese Passes : 100%
Higher Chinese Distinction : 23.3%

Compare to 2014 statistics, the % passes has improved tremendously. But compare to subject passes and A or A*, there are drastic drop. πŸ˜“

Just to share that T score only tells us the performance of our children when compared to those who took their PSLE in the same year. It is not a score board, but more like a ranking list for that year. Hence, it is really meaningless to compare a child's T score with others who took their PSLE in past years. Nevertheless, we should celebrate every single student's effort and hard hard work! Also, Thank you to Dr Chin and all the staff in Tao Nan School. Thank you for all the love and guidance given to all our children during the six years in the school. The school has done very well and achieved way past the National average for overall and quality passes as mentioned in the earlier post ( The passes for Science is 99%, instead of 90% ). We are very impressed that the % Express eligibility is 94.9%. One of the highest so far that we have heard this year!
This is not possible without the care, dedication and hard work of the teachers. Well done TNS and thank you again!!

Don't worry too much - I am sure your DS will be fine. Does he already knew his class or have to wait till 14 December for the class allocation to be out on AsknLearn, like the rest of cohort? The stress will be higher if he is in 4A or 4I which are historically the top p4 mainstream classes in Taonan (not sure if it will be the same this year). Jiayou πŸ™‚

4K, 4L and 4M are the GEP classes.

After their P3 exams, the top 15% of the P3 students are shortlisted and invited to go through 3 rounds (written, interviews and a games section) to select students who have an interest and are strong in Chinese Literature and culture. Hence the mainstream BICEP class, i.e. 4J (which is made up of an exclusive 25 selected students handpicked from the rounds but this does not mean these 25 students are the top 25 students in their cohort). Thereafter, remaining students are streamed - 4A and 4I are the top mainstream class (so there are also very smart students in these 2 classes who couldn't get into BiCEP as their interest or understanding for Chinese Literature and Culture are not clearly shown during the rounds).

So yes, 4J is also a top class but it is BiCEP mainstream. I was referring to the mainstream classes hence 4A and 4J. Hope I do not make you confused :boogie:

Hi

Wondering if any parent with kid(s) in afternoon session staying at near Telok Kurau Lor K will be willing to give daughter (P2/2016) a ride on the way back from School for a fee? I only need one way. If anyone interested, please PM me! TIA!

Hi everyone,

I know this is very last minute.

My son is transferring to Tao Nan for P4 in 2016. We need to find him a student care centre. So far checked with YMCA and Hot Shotz. Both are full. Only managed to contact Just Kids HQ which told me that they will not be providing student care service next year 😐

Are there any other choices of a near by student care centre?

UPDATE: Masterhand at east coast road has vacancies. But it's too inconvenient for us. We ended up staying at the current student care at Bedok and taking the school bus.

We stay at Bedok. If there are Bedok student care centres that provide transportation service, we would also consider.

Thanks,

Zehua
