Crescent Girls' School

Hi AT, you would like to know that SEAB has listed a set of approved calculators in their site. Your DD's Casio is still valid for use. In fact, many primary school kids have been asked to buy that Casio model. So it should be fine.

I have a question concerning m-Learning. Do the girls use Microsoft Surface Pro as their e-device? I was told by my girl that the current girls use this model (some even newer ones like Surface Pro 4). My dd has not bought her ecopy of her textbooks as she was told by the school bookshop to only purchase these books when she has her own device. No news from the school briefing. Any advice from current set of parents? Thanks in advance.

I think my dd was the 1st batch to use Ms Surface pro/ other \"cooler\" looking slates. eg. Lenova/ sony, etc... I am unsure if the school's stance still hold on these proposed models or whether that will change from year to year based on their latest learning.
Based on my impression, it takes a while before they will purchase/ use their slate. The principal will usually hold a briefing before the girls get to buy the slate. I think they always have the option to purchase those ebooks subsequently. So it's fine not to buy now.
In my ds's school, they use macbook and we were having so much issues with math ebook that we gave up using that in the end. Actually, I don't see my dd actively using those ebooks on her slate as well. -
Hi Hoylj,
Thanks for your reassurance.

Thanks! My ds was told to get a laptop in Sec 1. I rarely see him use the lappy now that he has 'upgraded' to an ultrabook since Sec 2. He uses it for research and webpage maintenance. Lol.hoylj:

So do you recommend my dd to get the print copy of the textbooks now since she has not bought any ebook for Geog and Science? -

Just remember to log in on 1 Jan to find out the orientation group our daughters will be assigned to. All the best. I'm quite excited myself. haha -
My Dd looking at Cca offered in Cgs website. I told her she can make her own choice for Cca. She asked me if student leadership (Ambassadors, house/peers leaders, student councillors) offered as a Cca? :scratchhead: Told her I also don't know but will ask around for her. Sorry, I'm not familiar with such things. Hope anyone here can shed some light. Many thanks in advance!

I believe they still do, and it probably depends on where you stay and demand.Candy08:
Hi All,
I just want to find out if there are school bus for Crescent girls students?
TIA
My DD takes school bus to school for the last 3 years at least.
If my memory didn't fail me, the bus company did set up a booth during the registration day then.
Keep a look out tomorrow.
Thank you very much. Luckily, my DD could take the bus service.

Hi mum217:
Student leadership roles are not considered as a CCA.
The girls can apply to be considered for these roles at the end of Sec 1. I believe they hv to attend some kind of selection camp.
The most popular leadership role in CGS is House Leaders.
Wishing your daughter a fulfilling next lap in CGS! -
All the best to the new cohort of Crescent Girls. My DD being one of them!
