      slmkhoo:
      I saw a suggestion in the ST recently suggesting that we try to eat a salad dinner once a week as a way to eat more healthily. Since I've been thinking about something like that for a while, I suggested it to my family and have received a grudging 'ok' from my teenage girls. My husband is fine with it. The main requirement they have raised is that they need a reasonable amount of carbo and protein or they will be hungry in an hour! So, if anyone has suggestions as to what sort of salads I can prepare which fit these criteria:

      - easy to prepare, not too many ingredients;
      - contains or accompanied by carbo of some sort (pasta, potato, rice, bread etc);
      - contains or accompanied by some meat, fish or other protein;
      - no dairy products, chilly or curry;
      - can be prepared the day before and kept in the fridge till the next evening, though I can do some warming up before serving.

      Thanks! Looking forward to your suggestions!
      I have come across salad bars at HV MRT station and Square 2, always wonder how to fill the tummy 😂 The prices are not cheap either.

        Not too bad if there’s meat in the salad. And when added with brown rice or quinoa or couscous, should be quite filling?

          Get creative! Other than meat, fish, etc. you can toss in some nuts, dried fruits, etc. You can also experiment with different dressings. Have fun and eat healthily!

              My problem is the dressing for salad. Any recommendations for light dressing? Lemon juice+olive oil+?

                  At one point of time, I had slight high cholerstrol and was slightly overweight. Doctor advised no dressing for salads if possible. He even told me thousand island will make me fat too. I was like :gloomy:

                      Those thousand island and mayo type of dressing I don’t quite like. I like those oil with some herbs type…

                      Salad without some oil feel like difficult to eat.
