I believe so. That's what it says on the MOE website.zbear:
I am curious - for non IP JCs, when do they start new term for JC1?
Will it be when the students from JAE come in end of Jan?
So, these JCs will only have JC2 students from Jan 4 onwards.
I wonder - will it be better for JAE students to start on the same footing as everyone in non-IP JCs compared to entering IP JCs where the JC1 students already have a headstart. Wont JAE students be at a disadvantage? -
What sort of headstart are you thinking of? I think the JCs will not try to start the IP students’ lessons sooner. My daughter tells me that she has heard from her seniors that the first 2 weeks is the "nothing serious" stuff, more to keep them in school and occupied (and out of their parents’ hair). Academic stuff only begins after the JAE students come in. They won’t even know their classes until after that.
On the other hand, it’s true that the IP students will know a lot of ex-schoolmates, and that it will definitely be easier for them socially. I guess JCs with sec school affiliations will be like that too. I can only hope that the IP students will make a good effort to mingle with the JAE students once they come in. My daughter was just musing aloud about how to do that, so hopefully there will be others like her in those JCs. -

first two weeks are more of an admin period, and introduction to school rules & facilities etc, together with cca trials! although there are lectures scheduled, they usually cover some y4 revision, if not they will schedule a make up lecture for the JAE students later in the year. because classes don't come out until after JAE students come in, you are also free to change your subject combi a few times before the deadline. so you can actually attend lectures of different subjects to get a feel of which one you would like to choose in the end!
that being said, most JAE students have no problems making friends based on my experience. as long as you keep an open mind, be friendly and nice, you shouldn't have problems making friends anywhere! plus many of us, although we are put together in a class with people we may know, we may not exactly BE friends, so it's kind of a new start with everyone! -

Thanks for info. Does this mean that the IP students will have a chance to attend lectures n try out subj combi unlike JAE students? So wont that be considered as a headstart?you are right!

hmm, i won't say it's a headstart, maybe a privilege? anw, the first week or 2 from when school officially starts, (aka after orientation when classes come out) the timetable will only consist of lectures and not tutorials, and everyone is allowed to change their combi during that period of time, maybe until mid year, then another time at the end of the year. so i guess other than changing classes, JAE students aren't at risk. im only speaking on behalf of RI btw!

Say, how do you guys view Yishun JC?
I live in yishun so it’ll be very convenient for me to go yishun JC. Just that my english is lacking so would be prefered if yishun jc is good in tutoring students for general paper. -
think so because results of posting is on 28-Jan-2016

Any opinion on Tampines JC and Anderson JC ?
Thanks
