I'm waiting for the next wave of CNY FD promotion. So far the trend has been boc will give a can of new moon abalone and UOB will give a plaque.

I dont hv high expectations on the FD's \"free\" gift but since it is free and so just take it and become another item in the store room.

The can of abalone is gd but the plaque...

So far, no news fr Maybank which is quite a disappointment.

And the yield from Spore Savings Bond is real pathetic ... :roll:

Local bank’s FD rates seems to be less attractive - OCBC 1.7% for 12 mths tenure
- UOB 1.6% for 13 mths tenure

Looks like std char's FD rate is the highest now but it is ending on 15 Jan 2016. HLF's CNY promotion is at 1.99% only.

It was announced in the news that the few issues of S'pore Savings Bond were grossly undersubscribed! And initially, we were so hopeful that these bonds could be an alternative to FDs.

The yield on the SSB is actually quite good, considering that the term is actually equivalent to only 1 month. You can withdraw it (or part of it) after 1 month and still get 1 month's worth of pro-rated interest (ok, less $2 + $2 transaction fees). Try doing that with a FD.

Think of it as a 30-day reducing notice period call deposit!

Where to get this kind of interest on a 30-day call deposit? My only gripe is the $100k total investment limit per person.
