For the information to students and parents, it is usually through school portal (not website). Otherwise, there will be a lot of school internal information that public can access.
For laptop/handphone, students can only use in the classroom when teachers ask them to bring out and use (eg to do some group work or research). Those caught misusing laptop/handphone will have the device confiscated till end of the day. For the recalcitrant students, parents will have to go down and collect. During recess and after school, the students can use. if there is laptop/handphone addiction, FTs will speak to parents to have devices kept by parents and usage monitored. As parents, we can teach our Dear sons to use technology meaningfully.
For badge pinning, it is more in-house. Badges pinned by form Teachers (assisted by Peer Support Leaders, their seniors who induct them into the school). Don't think parents are involved. For my son, even in Sec 1, he did not want us to be so present when he entered secondary school. Just have to learn to let go.
The good thing is, the school keeps parents involved in other ways eg PTM, CCA showcase (usually mid-Jan) for Sec 1 students and parents to find out about CCA. Some of the CCAs invite parents for key activities eg Band invited Sec 1 parents at year end when Sec 1 band members are trained and ready to perform. Boys' Brigade also invite the parents for thei Awards Ceremony in April.
Thanks for the info !! -
DS came home yesterday and told me excitedly that his classroom is on the 6th floor which overlooks the sea. There are planes taking off in the far distance too. Very relaxing. But I reminded him to concentrate in class too.

Good to hear that he's liking the experience so far. The land in front of VS (along the expressway) is currently under the Government Land Sales programme. Sea view is likely to be blocked once a condo comes up. :slapshead: -
need to choose CCA now. 9 choices. My DS is not the active type though.

Oh no, it will be such a pity if blocked!
But I hope the boys can still continue enjoy some beach activities during their PE, X-country or VIA. -

If your DS needs the 2 CCA bonus points, I would suggest UG. IMO, it's one of the easiest to fulfill the prerequisites, esp for the new cca point computation system. Morever, since he's not active, it will be good to expose him to outdoor activities, camps, drills etc to prepare him better for NS. -

Hi cookie, no text book for IP. We had been asking the school during meet the teacher session, the answer was no textbook. So was very difficult to guide them without a proper textbook. But they were learned to do a proper filing as teacher will check on them from time to time. But not sure for the subsequent batches as my DS already in Y5 this year.
