It is interesting to note that Muffins see him famous because of homosexuality, now I wonder how many youngsters receive the same kind of messaging like Muffin. Isn’t that alarming? Can we expect teens with lesser experiences in life to understand things in perspective like cluelessmom? You decide for yourself.

I was never into American Idol until the day I caught Adam Lambert's Mad World performance on AI and I was totally blown away by his haunting vocals. He won over many fans with tat rendition all over the world and had expected him to win the AI. When he lost AI to Kris Allen, many felt tat it was becuz of his sexual orientation and blasted the Americans for being \"homophobic\".....

I think he is just an ordinary man who has been passionate abt singing since he was a kid... If he has any agenda at all, I think it wld be for people to accept him and focus on his amazing vocals and not to deliberately influence people to be like him or adopt his sexual orientation. Frankly, I too was a'lil disappointed to find out tat he is really nt a heterosexual guy  .......

Well, yeah, that is true, but I'm just saying.... :imsorry:

It's not your fault Muffin, you are at the receiving end of such information, you just need to apply discretion. Young people today find all ways to stay in the limelight, look at the boomz girl, a good example and all the nude photos kids are willing to put on Internet shamelessly, plus all the willing tender grasses. Same for homosexuality. If you mix with the wrong company, it may become something cool eventually if you don't insist in your mind that it is truly unnatural, not to mention illegal.

I know ks2me. THanks for the advice.... 🙂

No no no! Don't get the wrong impression! I don't think he is famous because of his gender preferences! :yikes: :faint: I liked him for his singing from the start. I'm just saying that more people are buying his albums because of this situation of his being more inclined to men....

              insider:
Muffins, though I think my son (15 years old) may want to have Adam's vocal but I don't think he will want to 'imitate' his homosexuality. You think you will be influenced by him and change your sexual orientation by the most remote chance or you have friends whom you think like him and may imitate him in this area? Auntie Insider would like to hear from your point of view when you are free to write.

Hi insider! 🙂 (do you mind if I just say insider or do you want me to call you auntie insider? I'm fine with both....)

I most definitely won't change my gender preferences because of one of the singers I like.... Imagine all the people who like Britney Spears if that happens..... None of my friends have changed themselves to be like Adam Lambert aside of trying to sound like him when he sings. (Actually I think I am the only person in the group of my friends who likes Adam Lambert... :yikes:)

I mean, look at Adam Lambert... He is so famous because of this, his albums are really selling! His voice is good too.... 🙂

I am not interested in partaking in this discussion here. Can't keep up with the thread's movement 😄 Just wanted to comment on Muffin's post ...

I don't believe Adam Lambert is famous because he declared himself to be openly homosexual. If you had followed the series last season, you would know that he was a HOT fav among both the judges and the audience, and that was before he admitted that he was gay. It was a great shock (including the judges) that he didn't win. He is a better singer and performer compared to the idol winner (can't remember his name), regardless whether he is gay or not. Many artistes are gay but they are not famous because of their sexual preference eg the lead singer from the 80s pop group Queen.

On a separate note, my 2 cents ....

Kids are constantly being exposed to different areas of influence, be it drugs, promiscuity, crime etc..., does that mean that they will be duly influenced by all of them? Are these acts considered 'unnatural' too? I don't know many gay pple but the few that I have come in contact with never ever tried to 'advocate' their lifestyle. I can't say the same for some of the religious groups/friends, who want to be 'friends' with you, or are 'nice' to you, in the pretext of trying to convert you.

So you are saying Americans discriminates gays? That would be more surprising as they have states which legalise gay marriages. We don't have legal laws to permit their lifestyle here but so far I don't know anyone who discriminates them other than people who keeps insisting that there is discrimination. None of the gays I know have ever lost their jobs due to them being gay. NONE!, in fact they are respected in what they do as long as they do it well. None of them has lesser friendship from us because they are gay .. In fact I can party crazy with them and help them in times of trouble.....so where is the discrimination? We just cannot change the definition to natural simply because of an overpowering word called 'discrimination' in disguise to blind and numb our thoughts, can we? Please, think again. Most people get emotionally hung up by the word \"discrimination\", it is irrational in this case because nothing is actively happening in persecuting them. Even the article furnished by cluelessmom reported that gay scene is thriving in Singapore. And for those who go clubbing, there are special days, typically Weds, designated for gays and lesbians nights only.... Do the police or non-gays crash their parties and bash them up or put them under lock? No? Then? They are leading normal lives among us as far as I know, even privileged to be given a special night at clubs. Though our law does not support gay scene but at least our government practise what they preach of not barging into people's bedrooms and left such clubs alone.

Surely you can say they don't advocate their lifestyle but they are trying ACTIVELY to go through Law to legalise everything inch by inch....which is more powerful? Law or word of mouth? (Thank God we still have a discerning government who know how to cleverly skirt round the issue......Phew!! Hopefully they will not succumb to pressure in future). Now do you legalise crimes if you equal homosexuality to crimes, both considered \"natural\" in your eyes? Just think again for your kid, no need to force a reply here since you don't want to partake in this discussion.

I may receive hatemail but I should say to them.....\"Live and let live\" because they are causing misery to us by trying to influence \"liberalised\" people that being gay is natural.

And to those who think you are fighting for the \"poor\", please know if they are really poor. To me, children are always poor until they are old enough.

Insider, you feel for WeiHan that we put him/her in a spot when we asked a tough question in jest to lighten the mood but Wei Han, a scientist, is a matured adult who can defend himself/herself, given all the discussion that has been going on in a matured fashion. We should spare Muffin who is only 13? to think about such issues when he should be focusing on his studies, actually exam is just round the corner. We should ask him again at 25YO.

We can co-exist but need to draw the line where danger lurks.

Err....many felt Adam lost because he's a gay? i just remembered this opposite case - apparently Miss California (Ms Prejean) lost the Miss USA title because she did not support gay marriaage. I think it was couple of years ago ...which became a \"hot\" topic in USA when a beauty contestant, Miss California was put in a tight spot in the Q&A round for Miss USA. One of the beauty contest judges, Mr Hilton (he is a gay blogger) asked her about her opinion about gay marriage and her answer was \"that she believe a marriage should be between a man and a woman\"...What happens next? See this report from Fox found in the web:

Miss California is not backing down from the answer regarding gay marriage she gave on Sunday night's Miss USA telecast.

Carrie Prejean told FOXNews.com that she had \"no regrets\" and was happy with the answer she gave when a Miss USA judge, the gossip blogger Perez Hilton, asked about her stance on same-sex marriage.

\"I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman,\" she said on the live broadcast. \"No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised.\"

YOU DECIDE: Did Miss California's answer cost her the crown?

One person who was offended was Keith Lewis, co-director the Miss California competition, which Prejean won to make it into the Miss USA pageant. Lewis told FOXNews.com that he was \"saddened\" by Prejean's statement.

\"I am personally ... hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman,\" said Lewis in a statement.

Co-director Shanna Moakler, best know as Travis Barker's wife in the MTV reality show \"Meet the Barkers,\" said that she fully supported Lewis' condemnation of Prejean's views.

Blogger Perez Hilton was also enraged, calling Prejean a \"stuipd b***h\" in a video tirade he aired on his blog.

But the backlash is having little affect on Prejean, 21, she says.

\"I wouldn't have had it any other way. I stated an opinion that was true to myself, and that's all I can do,\" she told Billy Bush, who hosted Miss USA, on his radio talk show on Monday.

\"It did cost me my crown,\" Prejean continued. \"It is a very touchy subject and [Hilton] is a homosexual, and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would've wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.\"

                    \"I feel like I won,\" she said. \"I feel like I'm the winner. I really do.\"

VIDEO: Did Miss California make a big mistake?

Prejean also said that her sister, a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force, and a supporter of gay marriage, was not offended by her answer.

“She was just in my hotel room and she said, ‘Sis, I’m not offended by anything that you said. We have two different opinions and I love you because of it. I love you because you stood up for what was right, and it’s not a matter of being gay or not gay, it’s a matter of you competing for Miss USA and getting a question and answering it to the best of your ability.”

Miss California's answer sparked a shouting match in the lobby after the show.

\"It's ugly,\" said Scott Ihrig, a gay man, who attended the pageant with his partner. \"I think it's ridiculous that she got first runner-up. That is not the value of 95 percent of the people in this audience. Look around this audience and tell me how many gay men there are.\"

Charmaine Koonce, the mother of Miss New Mexico USA Bianca Matamoros-Koonce, argued back.

\"In the Bible it says marriage is between Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!\"

The winner, Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton, a 22-year-old aspiring motivational speaker and entertainer from Wilmington, edged out Prejean and second runner-up, Miss Arizona USA Alicia-Monique Blanco, of Phoenix.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

As human beings, we are all inherently bias.

This biasness is a result of our upbringing, the society we live in, and many other factors that surround us.

No one person amongst us can truly say that he or she is ‘unbiased’. However, what makes our society a civil one is the need for everyone to keep this inherent nature in check. When there is a failure, the law serves us a deterrent reminder.

History will have us know that homosexuality has been rampant. Whether it is perpetuated purely by genetic reasons has been the subject of much debate. Until we are able to arrive at a definitive answer, one cannot simply attribute such behaviour merely to sexual preference (ie. choice).

Until then, what we feel and what we portray may never converge.

                      JMHO :celebrate:
