finally back to sg after 12 days of travelling and changing 4 hotels!
wanted to thank dimitri_can so much for helping me to get the ticket to Yokohama Cup Noodle museum else there is totally no chance of doing the cup noodle activity as it was during the peak holiday period. Like Yokohama much more than Tokyo city cause Tokyo city is really crazy!.
regret staying in Tokyo for too long, we stayed in Shibuya Excel Hotel near Shibuya crossing and Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro which we preferred more than Shibuya cause less crowded and crazy.
For those wanting to go Kiddy Land Harajuku to entertain our kids with toys my advice to give it a miss cause it is quite lame and not as big as I think it is. went all the way there but my boys were disappointed, the only interesting thing at Harajuku was that we bumped into actor Chen Han Wei there at Tokyu Plaza!
and for those who are changing a few hotels and don't want to lug your big luggage around, use the takuhaibin service (courier service). for a small cost, it is surely worth it to be luggage free while trying to change trains to get to our destinations, we have 3 kids with us so you can imagine how happy we were not to be dragging our big luggage bags.
though tiring for us to travel with kids, but loving the whole experience and can imagine planning for the next trip to other parts of Japan

Hi, can I know if it is sufficient to just wear uniqlo's heattech socks (extra warm) with normal shoes in February for Tokyo or do I really need to get winter boots?? I will also be staying at FujiQ Highland resort near Mt Fuji. Will it be too cold???
BTW, anyone's been to FujiQ highland theme park? What would be suitable winter clothing considering the fast rides-highland-winter cold? I'm afraid ds will get too carried away taking the roller coasters that he falls sick. :?:
Please kindly advise. Thanks! -

Sparks, u can wear extra socks if u feel to cold, normal shoes should be fine in Feb -assuming not much black ice .Hi, can I know if it is sufficient to just wear uniqlo's heattech socks (extra warm) with normal shoes in February for Tokyo or do I really need to get winter boots?? my dh,ds took the everland T express 3weeks ago at -10C , top speed at 104km/hr . they are not allowed to wear scarf, beanie etc. gloves are ok,
i think a normal winter jacket with hood suffice - will be busy screaming all the way n not cold le :rotflmao: after the ride, they drank Coke with ice
but i suggest u to take hot drinks if this is first time to get frozen by the coaster ride -
Kudos to your dh & ds! Thanks again MyPillow, for sharing your first hand experience. I think I'll need to bring some heat packs for the face if not frozen by then!

You mean you participated in the activity that made noodles from flour? I did and thought it was real cool, seeing noodles forming from flour etc.wanted to thank dimitri_can so much for helping me to get the ticket to Yokohama Cup Noodle museum else there is totally no chance of doing the cup noodle activity as it was during the peak holiday period. Yes, I prefer Yokohama than Tokyo city.
I like the Chinatown and Kamakura in Yokohama.
For Tokyo, it is mainly to see Hachiko statue and visit Asakusa Sensoji. -

As mentioned, do visit the 80yo Tsukiji mkt as they are moving out this Nov 2016 to Tokyo Bay. Too far to tour the wholesale mkt and eat fresh blue fin tuna /otoro sushi next time...

Hi Cheerfuldad,
Thank you for your recommendation. I just had a look at Nozawa. It is quite far from Osaka- (7hours in total)! Do you have an itinerary to share so that I can consider the places that you went?
Cheerfuldad:
Hi i3mum,
My family just came back from a ski resort - Nozawa-Onsen. Due to global warming, only mountain top is opened for skiing. But we have fun as Nozawa's easy run is 2 km long at the mountain top. Nozawa itself is a village town, therefore, beside skiing, you can also visit the town and their food outlets. The town has 13 public onsens (free of charge) and of course the hotels you stay will have their private onsen as well. Beware, the water is very hot.
I have done a few skiing trips in Japan and Nozawa is one of my favourite place. Cheers!
Regards
