Today 1st day of Induction programme for Y5. Why must they separate the boys and girls for the talks? Aren’t they exposed to the same talk?

          Lalaland,

My son just told me 2pm to 4pm is for students only.

          For parents, it's 4pm to 6.30pm.

My boy said the Year-5s assembled in the Hall, RI boys one side, RGS girls one side (they lined up according to their Year-4 classes). After that, the boys & gals were split up to attend various talks at different venues (they attended same talks but at different timings). Even their recess/lunch breaks were scheduled at different times.

No mixing of boys & gals on Day-1. Let's see what happens on Day-2. Maybe the school is trying to delay BGR.. πŸ˜†

So strange, right? My husband's guess is that they are trying to limit the mingling before the JAE students come in - which I guess is fairer for the JAE students. Though it really does seem odd to keep the 2 schools almost separate like that.

More likely, it could be a space issue. Do they have a venue big enough for everyone? And the canteen is already overcrowded, according to my daughter. And since they haven't been assigned to Y5 classes yet, I suppose it's easier to keep them in their Y4 classes.

Another question: any idea why some CCAs say that those who intend to stand for student council should not join those CCAs? And since council elections are not happening till later, what about those students who don't get elected and would actually like to join those CCAs?

Some CCA are very intense and have competition at the beginning of the year. Some CCA stands down at the beginning of JC2

Haha! Delay BCR in the current birth rate situation? I heard from my girl that they are going to have a batch dance during orientation...boy and girl dance together and they are paired based on height. My Y4 girl is already talking about this batch dance. Haha!

DS didn't mention about 'batch dance'. Maybe the boys weren't informed of that yet.

When is it happening ? During Orientation-1 (RI/RGS) or Orientation-2 (RI/RGS/JAE) ? I cannot imagine DS dancing, with gals some more.. πŸ˜“ πŸ˜‰
