      Zbear, wah 12 choices …so many …

I wonder do O level results actually come with decimals places behind the raw pts ( but unprint) like in PSLE results ?

I think the reason why 12 choices is becos JAE students can choose JCs, MI, Polys n ITE. But I find it so silly to give them so many to choose. 6 shld be more than enuf.

Not sure abt decimal places but I hope MOE will not spring surprises like the recent S1 posting.

Would like to ask a silly question here and someone don’t mind enlightening me–

Understand some JCs offer combi subjects with options ranging from 10 units to 12 units. 10 units is the minimum requirement comprises of 3H2 1H1 subjects ( other than project works, GP). My question is what is the purpose of going for 12 units if the students can do well and say can even score subjects with distinctions if they opted for 10 units option? Will the uni accept students with priority with those score 12 units during registration?

My child is in Anderson JC science, life is much less hectic compared to secondary school days. No need to buy testbooks, the teacher will print notes for the student. He is able to come home for dinner every school days. Currently ,staying about 40 mins bus journey from AJC. Another plus point to consider is that Anderson JC is very near to Yio Chu Kang MRT.
              Thanks Susan,

Can I know whether the teaches at Anderson JC are compassionate about teachings ?

I know some teachers in the top JC don't even bother to teach & cannot teach to even save their life !

i hope to get into a decent jc such as serangoon and i am going to appeal for a review of my humans papers. What is your advice on appealing on a review of a subject and which jc should i go to? Thanks for your time and understanding 🙂

as pointed out by someone in the other thread on your same question, the chances of grades being altered after review is almost 0. But no harm trying though just to satisfy your curiosity, who knows it;s actually an error ...

12 units help differentiate them from the crowd from scholarship perspective. There are many who can ace the 10 units with perfect scores

I think the reason for 12 choices is that there are so many JCs and polys, and so many similar courses in the polys. Students may want to put 3-4 JCs, MI, and more than 1 course from a few polys ... it all adds up!

So far, I have not heard of such negative comments about any of the teachers that my child had. When I asked some teachers if there are any other recommended text that my child should have, their reply is : they would provide them with sufficient notes. My child is not attending tuition, he is doing well in the exams, I am happy with the the teaching in school. I think AJC is a no- frills JC, very down to earth school.
