Standard Chartered Bank's promotion has been extended till end of Jan 2016. So far, the bank is flexible in providing higher rates. Have friends getting 2.1% pa for $40K for 2 years and 2% pa for $200K for a year.

The bank is going all its way out to woo customers' money?

I think so. I had to go three times in order to place my FD as it was very crowded. I understand if you have higher amount and if also open their bonus saver account, you can be offered higher than 2.1%. In other words, the bank published rates are flexible and negotiable.

          It's 1.88% for 12mths, not 1.8% pa!
min $38K free one can of New Moon NZ abalone.
I just checked with Sing Finance, they allow customers to open, say, 2 x $38K FDs and collect 2 cans of abalone.

Is anyone going to place an FD with them?

Looks like this is the best rate so far.

Yes it is still on till end Jan. I even have the bank promised to give me the same good rate if I bring in more fund by end of Jan. This is the best so far.

You will still suffer a loss of $26k in the worst case...
