Is homework not a form of revision?

Ca/SA consists of topics taught earlier. Homework is given based on what is being taught presently.

chij toa payoh briefing on 29 jan.

math only covered 2 topics. still have 6B.
science. covering energy. still have interactions. if don’t revise lower block constantly, daughter here would have forgotten her stuff.

let’s hope MOE comes up with something encouraging.

as most of you know, my daughter is academically weak and such as it is a challenge to tutor her. her science tutor is showing some frustrations with her. this is a crucial year. but if tutor is getting impatient, i am thinking of getting another one. any inputs? thanks.

How long has the science tutor been with her? if it is a new one, maybe try another one. Or check with your daughter whether she wants to change or continue with the current one.

How does the new PSLE score banding work? How does it make the whole secondary selection system better? I am clueless..

The same 4As can possibly be a 20-aggregate gap. MOE will still be allocating them based on their aggregate. So how would I know if my result of 2A2B is closer to the aggregate 200 or 220? To choose a school with cop of 199 or a school with cop of 219?

Million dollar question. I never realized there were like dunno how many decimal places that will determine if Student A or B get into a popular school, what more banding system. My feel is that they may only release the grades like O levels (eg A1, A2) and then we 'guesstimate' from there. if it's just A*/A or whatever, it's going to be way too broad for kids/parents. Anyhow, cross the bridge when we get there.

Now our kids can still make a difference to their psle scores, after the exams, we can only talk. :rahrah: :rahrah: Jiayou all!

PSLE has the biggest cohort taking the exam, compared with O and A levels. The amount of \"duplication\" of the same score is very high - even with the current T-score. Using a O or A level banding is not going to help - at the back end, MOE will still need a system based on meritocracy to distribute the students to the sec schools. Removing the T-score is just removing visibility from the parents and students, making choosing sec schools more difficult. Unless they revamp the whole system and offer other forms of distribution clarity, and I do not see that as an easy task to be implemented, removing T-score from our visibility is not a benefit to us - 换汤不换药.

Since last year. I don't think it's wise to ask daughter if I should change because she is not mature enough to give me an answer.
Scary part is this is her crucial year...where to find one now?
