I also had thyroid before and extended many years, but not once i felt bulging eyes. I think its called grave disease? You should check on it. Find an endocryne to check on it.

Is your thyroid condition under control now?

I am diagnosed to have Grave's disease. But I do not think my eyes are bulging now :xedfingers:

Your GP recommends to see what specialist - eye or endocrine?

            Hi Jennifer,

My GP recommend me to see a Endocrine. Actually based on my latest blood test last Friday, my condition has improved. Over the few months, my medication was reduced from 4 pills to 3 pills and now to 2 pills.

However, it was 2 weeks ago that someone noticed my bulging eye and asked me what happened. I did not even noticed it myself !! Except that I have been experiencing dry and teary eye. Now then I know it's due to the bulging out that causes my eye to be dry.

Even my GP didn't noticed it last week. When I told him today then he agree that it bulging. Initially I was happy that my condition has improved but now the eye condition worries me. I think my vision is also affected. I thought I have 老花眼. Now then I realised it has got to do with my thyroid.

GP said let the specialist do a throughout check to find out any other problem and if it's the same medication he prescribe then I can go back to my GP.

May I know how much is your consultation charge per visit and I heard most probably I will need to do a ultra sound scan. Is there any other treatment involved for you ?

            Thank you

            Hi Muska,

Thank you for your advice. Yes I think I might have Grave's disease. I've read up on this and I think it's the same symptoms. I know not all will have bulging eyes and vision problem. I am worry my eye won't go back to normal. :nailbite:

            Thank you 🙂

I started out with taking 20mg of thyrozol for one month, then cut to 15 mg for 6 weeks. For a period of time, I forgot to take the medication regularly and the condition became worse. Then I overdosed and became hypo.

Now I am taking 10mg for weekdays, 5mg for Sat and Sun. Am supposed to step down to 10mg for Mon to Thu, 5mg for Fri to Sun, next step down to 10mg for Mon to Wed, 5 mg for Thu to Sun before going back to review in mid April.

                  Hi,

Two of my sisters and a cousin had bulging eyes before they realised they had hyperthyroidism. Of the three, my cousin's eyes were the most bulging as she sought treatment only when her condition was severe. It took her a few years before her eyes became normal again. One of my sisters mentioned that she didn't realise she had bulging eyes until she was looking at her old pictures and saw that her eyes did show more white on top and below, but hers was back to normal within a year as she sought treatment early. I have Graves' disease too but I don't have bulging eyes so it probably depends on how early you seek treatment?

Whether you have bulging eyes should not be a major concern as long as you seek treatment. When the condition is under control, your eyes will be back to normal.

Went for the review this morning. All indexes are normal now. Did not test for Trab this round. Next review is 3 months later, to do the Trab test then.
