Another point to highlight, you must have believe in the school to get yr daughters to transfer to SNGS. Please do not look at ME classes in different light, if u are able to check around, this batch of pri 3 students are academically able and those in ME classes are equally good.

Reckon you have misunderstood my message. Of course I am happy that my gal got in to SNGS. My previous post was with regards to the Greenbird who had expressed her unsatisfaction over the materials given for Top 3 classes & MA classes. Becoz I understand how she felt as I had through these feelings before. How the teachers want to provide what kind of materials to which classes are really within our parents’ control. To put it simple & To be realistics, I think sometimes you rather help your own kids, rather than wait for the school to help your kids. It doesn’t apply only to SNGS, it applies to all the schools. -

Do not depend on school teachers to help your children. A teacher has 40 pupils to attend to. Parents must not wait and adopt that attitude of being spoonfed materials from school teachers. There are a lot of learning resources out there. -
I am cleared of your posts. In fact, majority of students in SNGS have outside enrichment regardless of which classes they are except for some very lucky ones with mum who are housewife and able to coach their girls personally. Besides school, is every parent duties to give the support when needed.

Since the content of Tingxie/moxie are different in Primary 3 HA classes vs. MA classes, what some resourceful P3 parents from MA classes do, is :-
After manage to get hold of the HA class's tingxie/moxie list, using theirs as a reference list, at home if these MA classes' parents have time, want to give further tingxie to their daughter at home, by all means Do so. This is the round about way, of keeping up on par,at the same pace as HA classes' Chinese standard.
As to whose standard is higher or lower, parents can gauge for themselves, by doing comparison.
Btw, your girl in P5 this year.
Do P5 MA classes also have the same problem, as P3 MA classes ? -

based on my understanding (do correct me, if wrong), Banding at end of 2015 P2 Term 4 was done, based on the Total aggregate score for 3 subjects (P2 English, Maths, Higher Chinese).
Students from Mixed Ability (MA) classes, could possibly be stronger in one of the subjects (be it Maths or English or HCL), as compared to those in the Top classes.
In the Primary 3 MA classes :
there are some students that might just happen to miss out by a few small decimal points, to enter the 3rd Top class, after computer sort them out, by Total aggregate. There are also some good student leaders, inside MA classes.
as for tingxie/moxie list : feel our St Nick P3 tingxie/moe list may be higher standard, compared to that of some SAP / GEP schools. This is good practice for our girls, in the long run. -

as long as one is a Transfer student :
whether pupil Transfer in at end of P2, or Transfer in at end of P3 (after the release of P3 Gep Screening results), or Transfer in at end of P4 :
was briefed by VP that : \"ALL Transfer students can only join Mixed Ability class\".
since your daughter had been placed in a Mixed ability class at P5, most likely she will remain in the same class 2017 P6 (next year) for PSLE, since no more streaming conducted at end of P5.

For those, trying to seek transfer, may note.
a)
as for 2016 P5 (born 2005) batch, trying to seek Transfer into St Nick :
was told no vacancy.
was told that for current (2016) P5 students from outside primary schools trying to seek Transfer into St Nick, if you have already submitted your daughter's Transfer Application form at beginning of January 2016 P5, you can only wait.
But, if you still do not hear anything from school, latest by end of June 2016 : can take it that is un-successful, because no vacancy arise in P5.
In fact, the last call for Transfer was held last year (2015, 9 October) for 2015 P4s, started new academic year (P5 2016). This dateline was stated, inside the Transfer Application Form. And there were many P4s (2015) who applied, last year.
b)
as for 2016 P3 (born 2007) batch, who are trying to seek Transfer into St Nick :
after some of our girls are offered GEP, after clearing 2 round of GEP tests (in coming August & October 2016), given Big sized envelope by MOE to join GEP programme : out of Total six P3 classes, vacancies arise.
The number of vacancies that arise, at end of P3 :
will depend on the number of P3 girls exiting out of CHIJ St Nicholas, to other primary schools
(be it to a GEP school or otherwise), plus how many more extra vacancies, the school intend to open up.
once vacancies arise:
Yes, new Transfer students selected can join St Nick, starting new academic year (2017 P4).
But, only allowed to join MA classes. At end of P4, face streaming.
FYI
at end of (2015 P2) last year -
Total 28 students had already Transferred in, started new academic year (2016 P3).
These 28 students had Transferred in, from several primary schools in Singapore, like :
- from SAP schools,
- many are from mission schools : from the CHIJ family, from Convent schools & Methodist schools,
(example:
from CHIJ Kellock, CHIJ Nativity, CHIJ Toa Payoh primary, CHIJ OLGC, Marymount Convent primary, Methodist Girls primary school)
- from Ang Mo Kio primary, from Rulang primary, plus from some other neighbourhood primary schools, located in the north, central, west, etc.
When the Letter offer of Transfer come, student can reside in any part of Sg.
Not necessarily must stay in Bishan, Toa Payoh, or Ang Mo Kio, Yishun (north zone area).
Some of us stay far away. Contrary to the myth that for Transfer cases : P like to give to those, who stay nearby CHIJ St Nicholas primary. -

You are right! Banding to which classes are according to the total aggregate score for all subjects. So, even though one student can score full marks for Math & Science (Top students may not able to garner full marks for all subjects), but did not score well for other subjects, will pull down her total aggregate score. In the end, it is the Total Aggregate Score of all subjects decide their fate. A few decimal points, even 0.01 is very competitive in the 1st class, don’t even need to mention that some students lose the few decimal points even to get into 3rd Top class. U see, it is very very competitive. But please don’t be disheartened if your gal are in MA class, or don’t even be so pleased first if they are in the 1st 3 Top Class. Coz in the end, it is still whether the students can score in their PSLE counts the most. I have seen alot of students getting to Top class, scoring good results in the exam, but sadly, score badly for their PSLE–I mean really badly, like 217, instead of 230-240 suppose to be if based on their P6 Prelim results. So, what can I say? I always believe: "Success is not Final, Failure is not the End. It is the courage to continue that counts".
