        Hi

This is our 1st time to Jakarta, hence really appreciate input on the areas.

Seems like many malls are called ITC in jakarta, anyone knows if the two malls near Manhattan Hotel, the ITC mall and Mal Ambasador has the same type of shopping as Le grandur Manngua Dua area where four malls are link together??

Am really confuse with the type of shoppings there are. Was told the Senayan area is more upmarket?

Am looking at places like MBK in Bangkok or like Far East Plaza Or Bugis area type...can anyone recommend where to stay please?

        MTIA 🙂

Let me brief a little bit... 😄
Most of middle class malls are call ITC. There are several ITC but the most 'famous' is ITC Mangga Dua (Two Manggoes 😄 ) It is actually a few mall link together, ITC Mangga Dua, Pasar Pagi,Mal Mangga Dua...

Senayan.... Yes, it's an upscale mall, selling branded goods more like Ngee Ann City.

Near Manhattan Hotel, there is Mal Ambassador which is linked to ITC Kuningan. Smaller than Mangga DUa but similar. Maybe you better stay at this hotel and get a taxi to Mangga DUa. Please don't stay around that area especially when you come with your family and kids. At night....the area is a very 'glamourous night life' area 😄

Please beware of pickpocket and please bargain as hard as you could push.... :celebrate:

My kids are 10 & 12, most likely we're off to bed by 10pm, hence was wondering isn't still an issue if we choose to stay at Le Grandeur?

I've googled from Mahattan to Mannga dua takes about 20mins by car, will the jam be a hassle? Really HATE to be stuck in jam!

Acutally will be shopping in Bandung prior to going Jakarta, is shopping in Bandung similar to Jakarta, isnt cheaper to buy in Bandung?

Thanks for the WARNING abt pickpockets..grrrrr..sound scary 😐

              Do you mean Bandung?

              It's where I was born 😄

It is a small city, with a chill weather in the evening (But I heard it's getting warmer now)

You could shop for clothing here since there are a lot of outlet store.
The most famous are Heritage, Rumah Mode and a few others.
Along Jalan Cihampelas, you could find Denim Clothing Store

In the evening you could hunt for good food at Hyper Square Paskal with affordable px.
If you want to enjoy night view from mountain hill at your dining table, you could go to The Peak or The View, these restaurant serve local and western food, maybe a little chinese food.

For hotels, there are a lot of good hotels. Maybe you could try to book Hilton Hotel. It's just operated last year. Nice room and swimming pool...

              Enjoy your stay....

Bandung is as I wrote above 😄

Le Grandeur? Previously call Dusit Mangga Dua. If you are with kids, I REALLY DON'T RECOMMEND.
Please do not bring your child to Mangga Dua. It's very crowded. Since you've shop at Bandung for clothing, left for you is shopping fake leather goods at mangga dua. Look for KW 1 (Quality No. 1) 😄

If you are talking about 20 minutes from Manhattan to Mangga Dua, it is impossible expect you go by car in 2-4am 😄 It would take about an hour or so in the morning and could be more if you go later in the afternoon.
BTW, mangga dua shops closed around 5-6 pm

                  oh yea..thanks for the warning.

Btw, am not into fake leather goods, so I guess mannga dua wont have anything for me ya, since already shop in Bandung.

Errr...sorry can I assume shopping in Bandung is cheaper than in Jakarta for similar stuff :?

Oh..any recommendation on where to get winter stuff?

Lastly, if stay in Manhattan is good enough as the two malls are good enough compare to mannga dua area?

                  REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR INPUTS :thankyou:

I don't really know what you are looking for. If you are shopping for clothings, Bandung would be enough. But if you want too 'surf', both place would satisfying 😄 At Bandung, mostly you would get more local product since Bandung is the main place for garment industry. At Mangga Dua you could find more clothing made from China.

Some of the outlets are selling winter clothing but I think Uniqxxx in Singapore has a better design and product with not much different in price.

To my opinion, the two malls near Manhattan are not to campare to Mangga Dua. But I think you could get something from there,

                    Have a nice trip.

Went to kidzania with my son, ended up only going around as the staff didn’t speak English and couldn’t really understand malay. Food wise, many variety of restaurant, but I went to the familiar name; I.e crystal jade, din dai fung. Other places mentioned above (sea world, waterboom, tam an safari) was not suitable as it was filthy. And people smoking everywhere I went to. Basically, keep it indoor and you’ll be ok.
