The school LMS should have a link about the IvP; last year it was sometime around end Jan. If I recall correctly, students who are interested will click on the link to apply for the program (and answer some questions). I think the lessons would start in Feb.I would like to know more about the innov pgm for jh1. We were given the schedule that it wil fall on tue, bt it does not indicate when it will start. My child has no idea too. And, the consolidation cls for various subj are for students to consult the subj teacher when they have doubts?

During DSA,My friend, who I shall call Mario(not his real name),and I were from a neighborhood school and applied for NJC DSA in 2014.Also to my knowledge,2 River Valley Primary School students applied for the interview.I did well in my screening round and so did the other 3,enough to earn me a place in the essay tests and interviews.I also performed superbly in the essay test(the principal later showed me my high score during the interview) and went on to the interview.
My friend and I did not make it.It could be our lack of interview skills, but I doubt so.The 2 River Valley kids did though, and were both given a place. This led me to think,Are the principal and the various commitees biased?River Valley Primary, for those who donβt know,is a school situated in Orchard Road, where students can be known to have millionaire parents.
Tell me in the comments what you think. -

I would presume you had done very well in PSLE and attained a good t-score to go to a school of your choice since you were selected for the interview at NJC DSA (which I believe is the final round of the DSA process).
All the best to you in your current sec sch. -

My ds dsa last year n he got a place in Njc. My ds is also from a neighbourhood school, somewhere up North. So I believe the deciding factor could have been the interview. -

I don't think its the \"academic part\" since u and the others did well... perhaps during the interview u and yr friend did not have what they are looking for. My dear friends son came frm an \"elite\" school in bkt timah and applied the same year as you but did not get in after the interview... similarly another 2 more frm nearby NJC applied dsa and was not accepted but eventually got in after the PSLE results n they mentioned its easier to get in with their score than thru DSA. Ive also come across other students frm top schools that didn't make it after the interview and was kind of surprised as they had good credentials.
My childs class consist of a mix of kids frm all walks of life and from heartland schools too, There are also kids in NJ that did not meet the cop but was accepted thru DSA and r frm heartland schools. I believe there is a quota in every sch that opens up for DSA and most kids applying are already quite academically good so I feel that after looking at top school students that could \"make the cut\" and cant get by the interview really is a question mark

I talk to the vice-principal of one of the IP schools during open house and he/she mentioned that the school is looking for those kids that could not make it via PSLE results, but possess certain \"qualities\" that the school is looking for. CCAs and leaderships seem to be important during DSA and of course, other qualities as well. -

I agree that schools offering DSA are looking for certain qualities not just academic results alone. Aside frm results, Im sure schools offering DSA do want students that can also fit into their schools curriculum and programme.moonee:

Since iwannabeamerican seem curious why he and friend did well during dsa but ws not selected and assumed it was bcos he came frm a heartland sch after he heard 2 students frm a nearby \"orchard rd\" sch was successful. I decided to share with him that even students frm top primary schools in bukit timah went thru the whole DSA weren't selected too, so the whole process has nothing to do whether u come frm a heartland or \"elite\" school. -

My girl is from a neighbourhood school. She is not even top 10% in her primary school since P1.

But she is able to get CO from TJC and NJC.
I agreed that the whole DSA process in NJC has nothing to do with heartland or elite school.
