Hi there, can someone advise if it is necessary to get testimonials from the school teacher (eg form teacher or CCA teacher) for submission for DSA application? Is the testimonial of any help, or just certificates will do? Many thanks in advance. :?
Hi clover18, you may like to read this pertaining to your query.

Okie, many thanks for the inputs!
S1 posting is based purely on merit : ranking of PSLE scoresOngMum:
Hi, my child is thinking of not continuing her secondary education in a secondary school affiliated to her primary school, and she want to apply DSA via sports in other schools. For example if she is not successful in the DSA application, will she be given the priority for admission to her affiliated school in S1 posting? Many thanks!
Cheers!
if DSA has not been successful and no offers from any sec schools, then it is the same as normal S1 posting, put down your 6 choices and keep your fingers crossed

Thanks OngMum…I came across this thread and found it really useful. Is there anyone who has gone through the DSA process, able to share if testimonials does help eg for schools like RGS/NYGH…I am beginning to wonder if the schools will diligently read through the stack of certificates/letters submitted or they just browse through the portfolio summary, and rely more on interview, etc.

I believe the DSA testimonials are useful
There is a school where 33% of the cohort gets offer via DSA -- the form teachers have been busy since term one to get ready the testimonial especially for those students who are expected to apply via DSA. -
I see…hopefully all the form teachers are as hardworking in getting the testimonials written for the kids! Thanks for yr reply.

That is an impressive percentage of students getting DSA. Do you know if they got in through Academic or Sport DSA? Also, which school would this be? Thanks.I believe the DSA testimonials are useful

only a handful got in via sports dsa, the great majority are based on academic
according to the sec schools, those who get in via sports dsa must be among the top 3 nationwide for the particular sports -
pls enilghten me…if the child gets through via academic, does it mean must be in GEP? what is the chance of a mainstream kid being sucessful via dsa on academic criteria…is there some guideline eg getting band 1 for all subjects or something?

last year at the RI open house, for example, the principal said something like all subjects must be consistently close to 90s and above for P4 to P6.
and if you win some math olympiad, FPSP, etc that will help too. not necessary must be from GEP
for that school that got 33% of their cohort offerred via DSA, which is about 160 students, only about 120 are GEP, assuming all GEPpers got in via DSA - that means at least 40 ~50 are from mainstream got offered via DSA - and there could be all 40 ~50 of them are national sportsman at P6 -

This must be a GEP school then, for the majority to have gotten in via DSA academic?only a handful got in via sports dsa, the great majority are based on academic
