All your kids can write ALOT.
My older girl can only do 3 pages and maybe 1 or 2 lines extra max for English, Chinese and Higher Chinese when she was in P6. Her normal writing is usu 2.5 to 2.75 pages long. Her PSLE English and Chinese essays were also about the same.
Younger girl oso the same until this yr when the teachers came up with this strange reqm. I can see she is really feeling the strain from all the writing. Will ask her to ignore her teachers on the writing reqm.
When they were in P3/P4, it is only 1.5 to 2 pages
My boys do even less : ) They are 0.5 pages less than my girls.
Not sure. I think they hv about 10-15 words on every row in the foolscape. -
My daughter wrote out of point for last year’s sa2…immediately it was marked wrong! Awarded with a zero.

Alternative is to stay in the same class... but she does not attend HMT lessons when her fellow classmates do. One of my friend DD did that, so she is allowed to sit at the corner (behind the class) when the class is having HMT. She then has the time to finish up the homework of other subjects in the library.
Dd is required to write at least 4 pages for both MT and HMT essays. She does a Chinese essay every week since school started. Hers is the only HMT class in her school, 25 pupils.hquek:
BUT....the more they write, the more wrong they can be. I don't know exactly how much but I think for HMT, maybe about 3?
I tried taking her out of HMT beginng of this yr. This is not bcuz she is doing badly, her overall MT is around 83-85 usu in P5, just like my older dd. I feel the HMT work load was too heavy for her and was afraid it will kill her interest in Chinese. But the other 2 MT classes are too full to accommodate her (there's already 42 in each). The classes that follows these 3 hv many students who fails/barely passes MT so her Chinese teacher says it is not advisable. -
Hi Dear all, new joinee here.
I read discussion about writing MT & English compo. My daughter is in A range but lagging in creative writing. Writing 3/4 pages is a very big deal for her. Here you are talking about foolscap paper 3-4 pages ? Isnt it too much.
As of now my DD writes only one side of fullscap ie around 30 lines with 7/8 words per line. This count is around 250. I am worried , how to stretch the story ?
Kindly advise. -

Depends on the child's handwriting. A child with beautiful neat and font 10/11 handwriting can't be expected to fill as many pages as a font size 14.Hi Dear all, new joinee here.
