Hi 2ppaamm/Emelyn, any idea what is the recommended age to to put the child on Ortho-K len? thanks!

Service means to bring them to him to do cleaning, checking. Once, one of the lenses had a small chip, and Andrew detected it and replaced it (with cost). Cleanliness is very important.

We use B&L lotions. We spend about $12 a bottle, and can last a month or two (for 4 kids). Do you 'fill up' the container? I just make sure the lenses are 'covered', that saves a lot.

As to age to start: DS2 started at 8. Not sure if you can start younger, because it really depends on the sensitivity of the child, and whether she/he can be taught to put on the lenses.

thought they had 2 groups - one on normal lenses and the other with the new type? and that's how they come to that conclusion?

but true, slow down is just that - doesn't mean prevent or improve.

Thanks 2ppaamm! My girl is only 5 and she is highly myopic...Both of us are not and doctor ruled that it could be due to her premature birth....Recently we brought her for her 6 monthly review and the power has increased around 50-60 deg.Currently her eyesight power is 350--395 deg with astig of 50 and 120... Sigh....seems like there is nothing much we can do...what doctor advised is more outdoor and less near work activities....The concern we are having now is she is not even exposed to near work activities everyday..the most is only 30-40 minutes each time for about 3 days a week....As long as the myopia can be controlled, we are happy!

The new lenses, called MyoVision, make use of Peripheral Vision Management Technology, which corrects the image on the central part of the retina as well as on the periphery, by curving it so that it stays entirely on the retina.

This is different from the normal method used in optometry to correct myopia, which is to adjust the distance of images through the use of lenses......

my nephew is K1 this year. He is also on Ortho-K. the practitioner said as long as you have a cornea and you are ready, you can be on Ortho-K.

My other nephew (coming 3yo in June 10) is also highly myopia....300+. But he is very fidgety and he cannot sit still for you to wear the lens, and he personally indicated that he doesn't want to wear lens. So, the practitioner refuse to put him on.

that’s part of the reason that I didn’t put my dd on ortho-k.


1st the child must have the will. 2nd my dd is the type that can’t stand a little pain (mosquito bite also become irritated…)

so I am still thinking…

Hi Emelyn, Im also trying to convince my DH to put our DD on Ortho-K . He is someone who does not believe in contact lens...he feels that it is not a good solution and may have all the side effects later on.....I think I should get him to read our forum to have better feedbacks...kekekeke.... Seems like many younger children are now on Ortho-K....As long as I can find some solution to control her myopia, i will be glad....
