      sembgal:
Usually school teachers will not advise pupils to write 命题作文because if it is written out of point, the child can fail the Chinese Compositions. 。

My observation is that it is really difficult to do well for 命题 unless you are those super strong in the language. Honestly speaking, sometimes, I think my child is within topic but sch teacher will still fail the compo and say it is out-of-topic, so not sure also if they set the standards very high for 命题。Hv told son to say away from 命题 as he's not the super strong type, so too risky....somehow I find the the Chinese tuitions over the years have paid off, this year, I see that he automatically starts to regurgitate 好词好句 and can use it quite appropriately...so maybe \"ingrained\" over the years liao....

The other day I read you were having itchy throat. Now I m having it..could smell 'more serious' phlegm inside. No wonder has been having 'short' of breath. Just start taking some medicine, hopefully can be better tomorrow. Just realised got running nose also, better take zrytec and sleep.

Started with itchy throat, then thick yellow phlegm. And he ended up with no voice and persistent cough...already a week or so already. So worry that it will bounce back to DD and onto DS. Cool them with chrysanthemum tea yesterday although DH can't drink chrysanthemum with that cough as it seems to trigger it :faint: So more water. Rest well Mrs Kiasu and Janet DD. Must get well fast to face the CAs.

Oh dear, get well soon all. It's CA time isn't it? I also worry for my DS2. I just wrote to his teacher for extension for his homework which he can't complete due to tournaments. Last thing I want is for him to stay up late doing homework and risk getting sick. We are sticking to latest to bed by 10pm even if it means not revising for CA1 which has started for him. It was exams and off to matches twice this week and I forsee similar scenario next week.

Can't help but wonder why teachers pile on HW during CA weeks...:(

Take care all. There seems to be a bad bug going around - friends and colleagues have been down. All about the same symptoms - fever, cough, phlegm. and not all were due to over bingeing on CNY goodies.

Yes, both me and the wife have noticed this rather virulent bug going around the workplace and schools. The wishy-washy weather and recent stuffing of oneself on CNY treats aren't helping either.

Have a good rest and drink lots of water!

i had this phlegm which was just stuck...took flumucil to loosen but couldn't. sore throat and congested nose bothered me greatly. needless to say, passed the bug to daughter.
                        this is CA1 period 😢

                        hope you recover soon, Mrskiasu.
