oh no ...5 days insufficent ?YJL:
Hi all. I'm planning a year end trip of 8 nights to Tokyo. Is 8 nights too long in Tokyo itself?
ok, I can only answer this part. We just came back from a 8 day trip, with 3 days out of Tokyo city. I find 5 days insufficient to feel the vibes of different parts of this big city. I missed out on many places I've wanted to visit like asasuka, ueno, ginza, shibuya n fish market. We only have time for 3 areas.
heading to Tokyo this march holiday for 6 days with a 5 years old and 1 year old
wonder any chance to see sakura or plum blossom -

i also planning a multi city trip sin to sapporo then from sapporo to tokyo before flying home by ANA ..Hi everyone
I need your advice.
Has anyone booked airtics for Sin-Tokyo and Sapporo-Sin? I'm looking at 8-20 Dec this year. For my 3A2C, it's $3.3k
ANA has a gd promo now but I am wondering if the prices will be better after mid yr, or shall I go ahead and book it now?
Thks
yes the ANA is indeed cheaper ...but i am holding my horse .. i dont want to rush into booking only to find cheaper deal later ... am exploring SQ from sin to tokyo and then from tokyo - to Sappora via JAL ... waiting for good SQ or JAL deal ..
anyway most likely will try to plan again after my trial tokyo trip on ANA this march school holiday lolz see is it worth taking the airline again in dec

The benchmark would be the promo fares for this upcoming Travel Revolution and NATAS. I think promo fares may be out or early next week.

If it's cheaper than ANA fares, go for it. If not, go for ANA. Price should only go up after NATAS, not come down. No need to wait too long. -

I think March is a bit early for Sakura. Tokyo Sakura normally in early April. Check out this link to Japan Guide. It is very informative:

But early April accomodation very difficult to book now, Sakura season many people book 6 mths ahead.
6 days ok lah. not that bad. Depends really on what you want to do -
YJL:
Is it cheaper to get the JR pass here? Appreciate your sharing of experiences. TIA.
You can only buy JR pass outside of Japan (if you are going out of Tokyo, e.g to Osaka and Kyoto)
Check the fare prices via http://www.hyperdia.com to see if it`s worth it to buy JR pass.
JR pass: 29110 yen.

Places to buy JR pass
1) JTB (Ion Orchard)
2) NTA.SG (provides delivery service but payment is in cash)
3) Prime Travel (Hong Leong building) - allows payment in yen -

For instance, Odaiba is quite large to explore ... and you may need to give allowance for queuing time to enter the Skytree ... :imcool: -
For Odaiba, it really depends how the group travels. E.g if you do shopping the whole day in the mall, definitely half a day is not enough. Its up to the group to do adjustments along the way…
For skytree, if the group can plan ahead, there are a few timings which are not so crowded…
did this itinerary before with a family of 5 ppl.
