Harajuku is very crowded on Sunday. Your kids are quite young, and it may not be easy for you to navigate the streets, although it is true that Harajuku is most happening on a Sunday. We did Meiji Shrine in the morning then headed over to Harajuku. After we bashed through the streets, we headed to Ginza as the roads become pedestrian only on Sunday. But we were really very tired fighting the crowd in Harajuku, we did not spend much time at Ginza. I suppose you can always go back to Shinjuku instead of going Ginza like us.
But if you ask me for my opinion. I do not recommend you bring your young kids to Harajuku on Sunday. It is really very very crowded. Really no joke.
You won't be able to bring your young kids into the market proper. Too dangerous. Lots of motorized vehicles zipping around. Just go to the restaurant outside to eat. But need to go early. The queue can get long. I have not been to Tsukishima and koshikawa korakuen, so cannot comment.
You should do Asakusa and Sensiji together before going to Tokyo Skytree. How much time you have for ueno will depend on how long you intend to spend at skytree and the aquarium. Remember you need to queue to get to the Skytree
For your day 4 and 5, if you plan to go Disney, suggest you go Disneyland. Disney sea is more for older kids. Buy tickets on line and print it out so you don't have to queue for tickets when you are there.
You can also consider a day trip to Yokohama for the Nissin cup noodle factory. May be fun for young kids.
Kawaguchiko can be done as a day trip. You can take a bus there or the train. When you get to Kawaguchiko, buy the Omni bus ticket to go around. But it will be a very very long day. Not sure if your young kids can take it or if you can take it with young kids to handle. With young kids, better stay a night if you want to go.
Generally, I think your itinerary is too much as you have young kids. Not easy. You may need to cut out some stuff.
guess i am abit ambitious with my itinerary
... ok will scale down abit .. cos i have no idea how the kids can take it lolz ..all the past holiday we had are quite relax cos it is a repeated trip for my 1st born so can skip those on subsequent trip. my gal still too young to notice ...lolz i am more worried of me carrying her whole day outside :rotflmao:
ok will go research on nissin factory ... i also toying with strawberry picking

btw is food easily available for my gal ... currently she is on milk and porridge combi ... i wonder should i buy those instant porridge ... since electric lunch box is not an option due to diff voltage ... any one has recommendation where to buy these instant porridge ? -

Come to think of it, I rarely see porridge in Japan. They mainly eat rice. I have bought maggi instant porridge for trips, but it has a lot of msg, so may not be suitable for a 1yo. Have you come across a travel cooker? I have that. Can use it to cook noodles or porridge but cooking porridge may take longer time. My Japanese colleague is not in the office these 2 days. He has a young child too. I'll ask him about child food when he is back and PM you.

I second the recommendation for Miyajima. Love it. And if in Hiroshima station. Try the Bukudanya Tsuke-men. Starlight recommended to me and it was good! Thanks Starlight!
It's not impossible ~ it's just whether you're prepared to spend a lot of time \"on the road\", traveling from one point to another. Instead, how about shorten the traveling time, and drop by say, Osaka? The Osaka Castle is beautiful, especially during Sakura season.ilovelaksa:

We plan to go on a tour to Fukuoka and see if we can extend at Tokyo after that.
Is Keio Plaza the ideal hotel if we plan to cover Disneyland DisneySea Shinjuku Akihabara Roponggi Tsukiji mkt?
Also hoping to book a hotel that provides airport transfers.Travelling with 7, young and old, so this is impt to us.
Is Studio Gibhli interestg? Family has many fans.
If dropping by Hiroshima on the way to Osaka, would suggest putting up a night at Miyajima ... this place is beautiful ~ a UNESCO world heritage. If time is lacking, just visit Miyajima and skip Hiroshima City ... because there's nothing much in the city, except for the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome, Museum and Peace Park ...

In fact for Sakura, a great place to go in Osaka is the Osaka Mint Bureau. It is open for 1 week a year to the public in late April as the garden has 100s of variety of late blooming Sakura. It is really out of this world!

My family will be in Tokyo in December for about 10 days, can any of you recommend hotel or service apartment in Tokyo near train station/subway, have family room (5 of us-2 adults, 2 teens, 1 child 11 yo) and self service laundry? I do realise hotel room in Tokyo are really tiny and most of them usually accomodate only two pax in one room

that is what i am afraid ...worst case will take their rice add hot water to soft it for my 1 year old lolz .. i did considered those travel cooker aka electric lunch box but their voltage is higher than japan's so cant use .. we brought that when we went hk in dec ..so convenient lolz .. every morning before we go eat breakfast ...on to cook it ... when we get back it is all done
i googled and found some japanese instant porridge lolz .. i even went to japanese supermarket here to find it lolz ... i managed to find some .. it is cooked porridge in pack... all we need to do is heat it with microwave or boiling water ... my problem is not sure does the hotel room come with microwave :rotflmao: maggi instant porridge did come to my mind .. in fact i tried when my son was young .. like you said salty and my boy dun like it lolz so that option is out

1. The cheap business hotels have small rooms. But they are cheap, so usually not expensive even to get 2 rooms. Adults just have to split up, i.e. One each with each kid. We have never tried squeezing even 3 in a room. So cheap that it is ok to get another single room. There are many such hotel chains. I have only tried the Toyoko Inn Chain. One good choice could be Toyoko Inn at Ikebukuro. They have self service laundry. Comes with free simple breakfast. Normally rice or onigiri. Carbo basically.
2. Keio plaza near Shinjuku station has family room for 4. Nicer hotel than Toyoko inn, diff class. Price also diff lah. But don't think they have self service laundry.
3. Sunroute plaza at Shinjuku has family room too but I think it is only for 3 and self service laundry available. The room quality is like Toyoko inn, only lobby is much nicer. But you pay a lot more than Toyoko inn. I don't lthink Sunroute is worth it for the price. I Stayed once. But location is definitely excellent. So you pay for location. It is cheaper than Keio, more expensive than Toyoko inn.
For our family of 5, we have stayed at Hotel Metropolitan Marunouchi at Tokyo Station. Not cheap but really nice and convenient. We took 2 rooms. A twin and a king. Our 8yo then squeezes into the king with us. Children under 12 stay free but no additional bed available. -
