in 2019. Not only dd need to learn. I also need to learn. I heard of Band A but in my mind I really don't know from what marks lor..and paiseh to ask also. From P1 to P6, the band A will be of the same range? And since 70-75 will be A, the band A will be from 70 onward?MrsKiasu:
Thanks Janet.
you are welcome MrsKiasu.
when is your daughter taking her psle?
i am more worried about daughter's comprehension OE.
if the passage is tough like yesterday's, i can conclude that big ticket section is a gone case.
Oh gosh, my dd is not only weak at one area. I can only hope that she could catch up by starts of P5. -
MrsKiasu:
3 years time. so she is in p3 this year.

no need to feel paiseh...we are all learning something new everyday...at the rate MOE changes regulations. grades are moderated according the results of students taking psle that year. -

No need to be paiseh. My 2nd psle and I still don't know what are the range for band 1 or is it band A. Never figure out how to estimate t score either. Not like whether I know or don't know will have any impact on the gradesNot only dd need to learn. I also need to learn. A*- 91% above
A - 75%-90%
B- 60%-74%
C - 50%-59%

for example, Band 2 shld be 70%-below 85% cause chances are will have decimals. Same for everything else. -
sleepy:
To calculate T score, just take total score x 0.75. Might not be accurate though. Some say x0.7 more accurate, but for my case, 0.75 was much more accurate than 0.7. If u have the level's statistics, can use:http://www.post1.net/biow/entry/psle_aggregate_calculator_and_psle_t_score_calculator_online

All this grading/banding is just a guide. It gets thrown out the window as no ones really knows how they convert the kids' actual marks into T scores. Depends largely on the whole cohort that particular year.
Janet, does your dd's school churn out statistics for parents to see where their kids stand for the subjects in terms of percentiles? My kids' school used to do that and I know where roughly where they stand but the school stopped that practice. -
randwick:
not aware of this practice.

this banding thing doesn't apply, because like you mentioned, it all depends on cohort and how they performed that year...'can do' vs a tough paper...the students' grades will determine for that year.
for me, i don't want to think of grading because it causes additional stress.
daughter is taking 3 subjects...until now only MOE knows how to calculate.
