Thks! I googled and realized that besides grinding, the soy milk maker also cook at the same time! One site put it this way: a soy milk maker is a combi of blender and coffee maker! Found this link especially useful, just to share with potential buyers:It blends and cooks at the same time.

Using the Joyoung soymilk maker.
Is it easy to clean after use? MTIA -
I just placed an order for a Joyoung soy milk maker. I’ve been eyeing one for a long time, just didn’t have the time to follow through the purchase.
Anyone has any true and tried recipes? The demo at OG didn’t decant or filter the processed milk, and I’m not sure if I like it that way. I prefer my soy milk properly filtered. What do you guys use? -

If that is the same as my old machine bought from China. It comes with a filter that works quite well in filtering. I just put the soy beans and water only. ) for it to cook. There was a period of time I used the soy milk as replacement of hot water for oats. It may comes with a recipe booklet also. And my this machine retired already and I have another (white elephant now) that comes with a strainer for making tofu.

White elephant already?? Uh oh. Doesn't bode well for me
Do you soak the soybeans for like 8 hours before using? Does it make any difference whether you soak the beans or not? -

let me think again :rotflmao: i remember washing the beans in the morning before pouring it into the machine. You may want to trial and error.
Btw on the usage, no worries..I have been using it almost every weekdays till one day, I forgot to wash it after I used it in the morning before we went for a trip. So when back home, I dont dare to look the inside of it. Just threw it away  er xin I tell you.
The newer one is white elephant coz my 'customer'(hubby) not always at home. So no point I cook the soy milk and no one appreciate it. -

I read that must soak for at least 8 hours, not more than 10 hours else run rancid or sth. Soaking removes a bad substance that gives some people indigestion or sth other problem.
The other time, some weeks ago, I grind the soaked beans in a blender and cook it over low heat in a pot, then kept in a tumbler chilled in the fridge. Add honey only when I want to drink. A lot of work. -
