MOE sets a theme and the individual groups will brainstorm and come up with the topics themselves. So the various topics can be very different across the cohort. Even coming up with a topic can take a long time and changes can occur, sometimes rather late into the process. As someone said, don't be in a PW group with a good friend. You might not be friends after. :rotflmao:Year-5 students will be assigned Project Work topics today. Wonder if PW topics are set by individual JCs or MOE. And how does each JC assign the different topics to the various PW groups. Or is every PW group doing the same topic ?
Whatever.. JC1 'honeymoon' period is over, without the slightest doubt..

Is there any subject equivalent to RI’s Research Education in RGS? Does RE experience help in PW?
How about JAE students? Did they learn something similar to RE so they are prepared for PW? -
RGS girls would have done "Research studies" in Yr3-4, similar to PW. Don’t know about the JAE students. But they are actually comprise the majority of students in Singapore taking PW, so I don’t think they will have a problem figuring out how to do research even if they haven’t had much experience.

The PW groups tend to comprise a mixture of RI boys, RGS girls and JAE students so each can contribute their strengths. Some secondary schools may not have structured programmes on research but the JAE students can pick up what’s needed to contribute effectively to the group. What’s more important is the attitude of the members of the PW group. It’s very trying when you have slackers in the group.

Thank you Slmkhoo and Jtoh.

Thank you, slmkhoo & jtoh..
I asked DS if he has heard any 'horror' stories about PW from his seniors, he says NO. Asked DS if he has heard of the 'famous' PW teacher in RI, he also says NO. Seems like DS is oblivious to what's coming up for him..

Better that way. Ignorance can be bliss! My daughter watched her older sister go through the trials of PW last year, so is quite prepared. Anyway, she (the one in RI) is much more able to work in groups so shouldn't have any major issues, we hope.Thank you, slmkhoo & jtoh..

Answering my own post. This is from the newsletter:
Team Raffles Day
The Raffles Schools have jointly declared 1 April 2016 (Fri) as Team Raffles Day (a school
holiday) to extend due recognition to the time and effort that both our students and staff have
contributed over the past year.
