All About Full-Time Maids

Shine_fs,
So if we are paying $10/12 a day for her to sit there, I wouldn’t make any comment to potential employers. In fact, I would rather she gets sent home asap so that she doesn’t bully a new employer.
My idiotic former maid told the agency she wants to work for ang-moh the next time she comes to Singapore. Why ? Ang-moh give a lot of freedom, no need to cook and no need to be so clean. This stupid maid eats so much rice every meal…does ang moh eat rice ? Stupid woman. -
Anyone here tried to bring their helper directly from source? Other than the online transactions which I believe can be handled quite easily. What about other administrative stuff such as bring them for medical, courses, fetching from airport, arrange air tickets, etc… The whole thing would take how many days (ie take leave from work to handle all this).

lovekidsverymuch,
You guessed so right! Bcos of this maid, she got me so pissed off that I just didn’t think of getting another one after returning her to the agency.
Hubby was rather surprised I didn’t ask to see biodata for another maid.
She was with me for just 3 months…then told me her aunt is coming to S’pore and whether can meet her on Christmas Day…our agreement was NO off day but I thought of making her happy and bend the rule. There was a day we went shopping and she asked for some time to buy a pair of shoes. So hubby looked after kids. Told her to call hubby when she was done. She told me OK.
After 1 hour plus, I called hubby and he told me he was with the kids. Then I found that MAID walking around. I approached her and she told me she forgot. :x :x
One day, she asked me, ‘Mam, you don’t like me is it ?’ I asked her, ‘Have I ever said that ?’ During those 3 months with her, I was so tolerant already. No matter how I screamed at my kids, I have never shouted or scolded my maids before. I called the agency and got the staff to talk to her. After 2 hours on the phone, the staff told me they don’t understand what she was mumbling about. I told hubby I have to send her back to the agency before I am accused of maid abuse.
My 2 kids are my witnesses…they were giggling when I asked her what was wrong with her repeatedly. They told hubby, ‘daddy, this maid is driving mummy crazy.’ -

No offense meant. But you will also choose the company you work for right. Moreover, I would rather they be upfront about their preference instead of misleading potential employers about what they are willing to do just to get employed and then do a half baked job and drive you nuts.
Yes, I agree with you. I rememebr last year, I saw them when I was at my maid agency, sitting there. When I interviewed one transfer maid, she can tell the agent, she don't want to work for mejanet_lee88:
Ex-employers of transfer maids will not give a true reason why they reject them. For 2 weeks that the maid sits at the agency, employer still has to pay $12 a day until someone takes her.
My last maid (Filipino) could cook a decent meal or 2 and an old couple wanted her and sent her for Hep B blood test. Then that idiotic maid (sorry
) asked the agent whether the old couple had grandkids to look after. Can you believe that ? THAT DAMN SICKENING maid was actually choosing her employer !!! :x

Hi Funz,
True, we also choose employers.
When I interviewed this maid, I told her I need someone willing to cook, do housework and play with the younger one. No need to do marketing or sending/picking from school.’ She told me YES YES YES. I told her, ‘why don’t you think about it? Give me an answer later.’ That was the first and last time I am getting a Filipino. -

Honestly, I rather the maid say upfront 'want to work' or 'dunwant to work' - better than yes, and then go to your place to create havoc. -
Funz:
Yes, we do choose our employers but the right expectations between employers and employees must be there. Do you want to be labelled as a \"job hopper\"? Apparently, this is not the case for helpers. They dun mind and its like an alternative way out from them.

hquek,
Those transfer maids sitting there will jump at any opportunity to find a new employer, or else they have to go home. Can’t they be upfront and say whether they want to work or don’t want to work ???
A friend of mine interviews maids and tells them upfront how many people stays in the house and her responsibilities. This way, there is no element of surprise if she takes the job.
My maid didn’t want to cook, do housework and play with a 4 year old kid, look after a family of 4. What does she want to do then ? Be Miss Philippines or Miss Indonesia ??? -
janet_lee88:
In that case, yah, why did she even bother to come out - to find hubby? (pref Ang moh hubby?). What i mean is that it's good they say upfront dun want to work for xyz, then xyz won't even have to consider. There is no surprise.hquek,

I really dunno how they think - pay so much to agent for fun?
