Raffles Institution (Year 1-4)

Boarding is not compulsory, but highly encouraged. It’s about 1k for a term after the school subsidy (almost half price). Breakfast, dinner and laundry is provided (thrice weekly). There’s financial assistance if I’m not mistaken.
Boarding is easily one of the best experiences I’ve had at Y1-4. Would really recommend it! -

Amazing wins at the Singapore Physics Olympiad and Singapore Junior Physics Olympiad 2015
The prize presentation ceremony for the 2015 SPO (Singapore Physics Olympiad) and SJPO (Singapore Junior Physics Olympiad) was held at SUTD on 7 March. Our students did the school proud by winning the Top Institution Award. In addition, Feng Jiahai (16S06E) won the Absolute Winner Award for the SPO, while his junior Ma Zhao Yu (4G) won the Absolute Winner Award for the SJPO.

some people will say is expected as they take in top students
-
RI is not the only school which takes in top students. And RI does not specialize in Math & Science.

Does any parent happen to know the tentative Dates for the year 5 promotion exams?
Thanks!:) -
The recent A level results prompted some talk among my kakis - most of them have kids in Sec schools /JC.
They are saying that RI kids are expected to be good at everything. At the end, many of them are - with perfect scores and CCA records. However, because so many of RI kids are "perfect", it is harder for them to stand out as far as admission to premium colleges/courses and scholarships are concerned.
What do you think - would a RI graduate with x number of As be less visible compared to another with the same scores and CCA records but from a mid tier school?
In other words, would coming from RI put a kid at a disadvantage, as far as college acceptance and scholarships are concerned?
This is purely for discussion only, candid opinions from RI parents/stakeholders much appreciated. -
What is meant by premium colleges / courses ?
