There is no hard rule for this as you have to play by ear. Some parents prefer not to register first until they more or less can confirm securing the seat. As for me, I did register at my 1st school of choice and I went there on the last day to monitor the situation closely. I had the confirmation at around 3:30pm that there was no chance at all, so I withdrew and registered at my 2nd school of choice.

I was fortunate that I had 3 schools to choose from and I know for sure that I could secure a place at my 3rd school of choice if for some reason I couldn't get into my 2nd school of choice.

Please monitor closely and give yourself a cut off time. If you don't, you might end up like the parents in Alexandra Primary who got bumped off at the last minute. Bear in mind that it's not the school's duty to keep track the situation for you. You can't blame the school if they can't inform you in time so that you can withdraw and switch school.

Historical data is usually quite accurate. For NCPS, you might get a chance to ballot if you register in Phase 2B and you live within 1-2 km from the school, but a lot of time balloting happened for those living < 1 km. For Phase 2C, it's quite confirmed that balloting will happen for applicants living < 1 km.

When you mentioned above that u had no chance at all for the first choice sch, do u mean for example; there was balloting <1km and you were 1-2km or further?
I'm quite confused about which day I should register at the first choice sch and at what point should I withdraw if balloting no chance. For our first choice sch, sure got to ballot. Phase 2c total 3 days? First day or second day register? Would we know by first day if there is balloting? And by 3rd day the balloting result out? Meaning if ballot not successful, phase 2Cs can be done on 3rd day?

Heard there is an excel school in north vista primary, is it true? is there any after care school which helps children in their homework but do not provide care (showering, eating etc) for them?


Can i check how effective is the Reggio methodology?

you will be able to see that different number of days are allocated for each phase. It is up to you, which day you wish to register on.

You can withdraw when it is confirmed that you have no chance to even ballot or if the chances of a successful ballot is very low (depends on your risk appetite heh).

Nan Chiau usually requires balloting for Singaporeans within 1km whether its phase 2B or 2C. If you are within 1km, yep you can give it a shot. If you are not within 1km, can consider other schools. i will definitely go for nan chiau cos i am within 1km for my current house ..but i am in dilemna cos MOE new rule of must stay in that address for 30 months and my new apt is due to TOP within next 1 year and that is more than 1km away so now i am stuck ... to use new address or old address :?:

I think no dilemma here. Want to try Nan Chiau then use current address. More than half won’t be able to get in anyway. If use new address you cant even ballot. Get in liao, then ask MOE how? I think should be fine because you have applied for the new residence way before this primary 1 registration, it’s not like you purposely buy and sell just to get into Nan Chiau. If cant get into Nan Chiau, then no need to ask MOE anything liao bah.

that's true .. more than half cant get in ...

it is either i try with old address which is less than 1km or new address which is 1-2km from holy innocent .. both also hard to get it ...

I am staying at my dad hse which is 0.24km Nan chiau primary, 0.24km to anchor green and 0.50km to springdale
My new flat is in sk, ready by Apr 2019.
Based on the address, 0.43km nan chiau,0.3km to anchor green and 0.34km to Springdale
Which school should I choose?
Approached grc mp, he says to use new address to get into anchor green or Springdale.
I am really in a dilemna…

Given the 3 choices, it's a simple solution:
Phase 2C - join in the queue to ballot for Nan Chiau (less than 50% chance of success) or Anchor Green (< 1km sure in)
If fail to get a place, Phase 2Cs - join in the queue for either Anchor Green (if available) or Springdale (sure available)

Clearly, Nan Chiau is the most popular and Springdale the least. If you don't have stomach for risk, go for Anchor Green. If you can stomach risk and do not mind Springdale, go for Nan Chiau.

IMHO both address also less than 1Km no diff which one you use
