yah just checked ..it does pass fukushima / sendai area ... so can write off train already... jetsetter did a good analysis why plane is still better if go hokkaido strictly for skiing :evil:

Wasn't thinking of skiing actually. Have been to Eastern Hokkaido, so thinking of Hakodate. But I won't take train as it passes Fukushima.

To see monkey in hot spring, you need to go to Nagano. Take train to Yudanaka from nagano station and take a bus or taxi to the snow monkey park. Then you can spend the night at Shibu Onsen! Check out my photos of the snow monkey here.
